Nigeria Urges Gaddafi To Quit by mukina2: 12:25pm On Aug 23, 2011
ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigeria on Tuesday recognized the Libyan rebel council as the country's legitimate representative and called on Muammar Gaddafi to quit.

"In the last 48 hours, the situation in the country has moved inexorably closer to its denouement," a Foreign Office statement said.

"The federal government is understandably anxious to prevent further loss of lives in Libya and therefore urges Muammar Gaddafi to take the part of honor and relinquish power immediately and allow the people of Libya to decide the future of their country."

Am not sure of this, but if its true ,Nigeria is a really stupid  country in Africa. And its own days are numbered as well.Nigeria is not respected any more,it was southafrica going and coming out of negotiations. We all  should know that democracy does not bring economic and social change.

Seems the guy is still in control o. Read this:

Muammar Gaddafi's once powerful son, Saif al-Islam, made a defiant appearance in Tripoli on Monday night to disprove the revolutionaries' claim to have arrested him and to proclaim ultimate victory.
Saif al-Islam, 39, arrived in an armoured , http://www.360naija.com/index.php?topic=10665.0

first they told  you to help them overthrow Gbagbo - you agreed
then they asked you to vote in favvour of the no fly zone  - you agreed
and you expect respect?

why would anyone respect a coward and a traitor?

havent you done enough damage as it is?

do you think you are safe?  dont forget mubarak was an american puppet but the people still forced him out when he made their lives unbearable - better watch your back!!!

1.Nigeria has no foreign policy
2.Governed by a group of people who have dont know african history nor have africans interest at heart nor even know what national interests are ,
our citizens have so much apathy to what goes in parts of nigeria not to talk of the african continent .

SouthAfrica can come out of this with their heads held high even t hough they voted with the un resolution. They have woken up and realised that libya is one of the pieces in the jigsaw. That libya is an example to african countries on how to be self sufficient .

hot air.

So we should all emulate libya and sponsor militant movements in neighbouring countries, kill all dissenters, fund terrorists, kill all hope of tourism by making our countries pariah states and have heads of states with faces like pancake who travel around causing trouble everywhere in the world.

Ideally I would rather we mostly ignore the whole issue except our own citizens stranded there but its folly for us to totally ignore a war happening less than 2000km from our northern borders. Unrest usually crosses borders (case-in-point refugees flowing into tunisia).

Gaddafi is known and not hiding his own killing of the people, but we hide behind the stroke of pen and kill the future of Nigerians by stealing their future away . . . .and we have mouth to complain about another nation . . . .No wonder God said, remove the beam in your own eyes before you complain about the tiny one on someone's eyes.

Wetin dey do this our country sef? We have issues with security, jobs, a very incompetent police force, and yet the mad house of our so-called leaders are saying another person should leave. and to cap it all up, two foolish ex-presidents are exchanging insults. There's an adage that says "fix up your own house before you decide to tell your neighbour his house needs repairs".

awon somori adugbo. Idiots of leaders. i weep for Nigeria.

Can someone please tell me the economy indices under Ghaddafi's rule (GDP, life expectancy, literacy level and so on), if they surpass what we have, please Ghaddafi should come and be our President.
