APEC Summit: French President, Macron says, the world need a single global order

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday urged the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum for “a single global order” amid the US-China trade conflict that had done damage by forcing other countries to choose sides.

Macron made the plea in his keynote speech, “Navigating a Turbulent World”, for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit at the Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, reported The Nation Thailand.

“Are you on the US or the China side?” was the question asked, said Macron, who added, “But we need a single global order.”

Macron described the current world order as “a jungle”, posing the US and China as “two big elephants, trying to become more and more nervous,” reported The Nation Thailand.

The French leader urged the “cooperation of a lot of other animals” and calls for a single world order.

He said that the world faced a turning point over three scenarios – the Russia-Ukraine war, climate change, and the confrontation of superpowers. All three were undermining the global order, trade, and investment, he added.

Countries must re-establish international rules and multilateralism in order to maintain global peace and stability, he told the CEO summit, reported The Nation Thailand.

There is actually a single global order, and it is the one agreed upon by all the member states of the UN. But as we all know, the west, particularly the US, acts above the law, and regularly ignores and even sanctioned the UN in areas it does not agrees with. A good example is the invasion of sovereign states and overthrowing of elected leaders for selfish interests.

Macron is just using deceiving words, but the problem here is not China because there is no Chinese order. It is the so-called international order, where the US seats on top and bosses everyone else. That is the order that has to go, and other big players (eg China and Russia) refusing to accept being subordinate is merely a reaction. It's an effect, not a cause.
