Consultants as we call them here, are called attendings there, they have completed residency and gained experience in a specialty and passed the required certifying exams for that specialty, and they are surgeons not just primary care physicians.

Read this to gain some perspective. The exams to pass to become a primary care physician alone, na first hurdle that most of the Americans sef find it difficult to cross. Then comes residency and choosing a specialty where/when the big bucks come in. There is a reason most Nigerians healthcare professionals choose the UK, it is far far easier. That said if you are able to scale those hurdles in the US and complete the residency, the pay is hoooooge, especially when the student loans have finally been paid off. This is to let you be aware that no be say any docs as we know them go just enter US and start earning 200k plus. Nah! Not how it works.
