But the only toll gate in Nigeria for decades was the Lagos Ibadan expressway . Why did the FG only remember to toll PH Enugu after decades of tolling Lagos? If you want to go down that line equip yourself with a solid argument and all the facts/
When it suits you remember SS/SE there is nothing like that

With regard to proceeds from oil and gas definitely NOT from the SE how much exactly are we talking about from the SE ? We see the derivation figures. The entire derivation for SE is less than Ondo State

There is a 200 Billion bridge linking Bonny to the mainland so the SS is getting their dues. They have NDDC and Niger Delta ministry

Lagos contributes more than it receives and VAT from Lagos is part of what funds the FG Budget and budget of every single state in the SE and the country. You all chop Lagos VAT so 3rd Mainland is not comparator

Lagos state contributes over 500 billion VAT annually
What does Anambra contribute?

Your figures are not accurate the SE have oil and gas in commercial quantity imo state alone have the largest gas deposits in nigeria.

The SE does not contribute to the Federation account . It is a net receiver
The SE budgets in every single state without exception is supported with VAT from Lagos State
The Federal Government budget is also supported with VAT from Lagos State

You are writing out of deep hatred the SE have oil and gas deposits in commercial quantity imo state alone have the largest gas deposit in nigeria and it's currently being piped to bonny where it's shipped overseas.

Let us not argue about what they have in deposit. The reality on ground is reflected in the 13% derivation. If they were being cheated on that we would have heard a lot of noise.

On what is being sold and recorded currently the entire SE derivation is less than Ondo state which means they are currently contributing minuscule amounts of oil and gas TODAY. All these claims about deposit is audio

Correct the figures
Are those so called deposits translating to derivation? How much is the SE getting as derivation?

Wagwanbrethren:
Governments constantly run a budget deficit, at every level. So for those who might say 'how about tax' no, taxes aren't always enough.

Toll bridges are a little different. Big bridges are incredibly expensive to construct, so the builders need a way to recuperate that enormous loss of cash. Whether the bridge was built by a government, the private sector, or a partnership of the two, projects like that are only viable if they can partially pay for themselves through tolls. For example, the Ambassador Bridge (the busiest crossing on the USA_ Canada states border) is 100% privately owned, and earns the owner about $60,000,000 per year in revenue.
In theory, the tolls pay for repairs, maintenance, and upgrades for the road. In practice, however, abuses occurs. Occasionally the toll money goes to projects besides the road itself. But generally the toll roads are better maintained and thus less wear and tear on.

Truth is, government has to recover part of the cost of making new highways. It must not be forever. After 10 years it should be discontinued.
It depends on how construction and maintenance was financed. Every so often, the taxpayers agree to build a bridge. Other times they may object to the cost and only agree to partial funding. In that case, people using the bridge are charged a toll until the costs are paid off. In some cases, it’s never paid off.

No fund was borrowed to complete this project, it was funded with the repatriated Abacha loot.

If you are old enough in Nigeria. It isn't difficult to understand that the Igbos have been enduring systemic marginalization or racism for a very long time and someday we must all tell ourselves the truth. Last time something like this was seen. was probably in the Jewish holocaust Time will tell in the end

Where are the Unity Beggars from the southeast who are fond of supporting and defending their beloved terrorist Fulani Government of Nigeria? What do you have to say about this one? I can assure you that once this toll is in place, it would never be reversed as it would be for other regions that were mentioned simply because you're Igbo-speaking Biafran that deserves NOTHING! So, keep loving your One Nigeria while it's slowly killing you. Fools everywhere!

Lagos-Ibadan and Sagamu-Benin expressways were tolled for decades before OBJ dismantled them for various reasons and instead included a 'road tax' as part of what we pay for petrol and diesel. I actually preferred that model but I believe over time, that was looted.

Fashola mentioned a plan to toll federal highways starting with about 12 of them in the first phase (see below link). A possible reason why some of those other roads are not yet tolled may be because they are 'live' roads with existing traffic so to close down and build toll booths may be disruptive at this point in time. They will eventually be tolled.

Agreed the fellow may have been a bit brash.

Yet you who is presumably less stupid, have you criticized condemned or at least acknowledged the unrighteousness in such an action?

Have you ever remotely called black black and white white in your whole existence?

We are here taking about the injustice in this policy but your hate filled heart still finds a way to circumvent the issues on ground snd reduce it to tribalistic banter.

Utterly shallow and useless simpleton!

Gibberish;just what you'll expect to get from a typical senseless OSU from alaigbo ! How do I even respond to this totally incomprehensible hogwash you posted above, kiddo ? Is there something about what you guys consume over there in your erosion ravaged land of criminals or what exactly makes all of you come across as being very stupid and senseless ?! Anyway,I needed not to look any further;your first - two lines above revealed what is needed to be fixed in your pitiable life to give it a semblance of any meaning. Quit quoting me already with your inorganic, stolen jabs, you ain't a match ! Mumu ,go and learn how to spell and make a proper sentence, okay ? I think the first guy would have done a better job,ode like you !

Now,crawl back into whatever ratty hole you came out from and remain dumber than you are already there, fool ! For your information, I won't stoop so low as to be doing any back and forth exchange of needless banters with an obvious olodo like you. In other words,I'm done with you !

I agree that there should be tolls - To maintain the bridge users should be able to pay when using it. It is a convenience. If not take the longer route around.
The bridge was not built with BOOT - Build own operate and Transfer - So no cost are to be paid off.
I am not sure about your 3rd paragraph - Abacha's loot.
The Issue with tolls is that the govt will levy N1000 - the ticket will be Issued for N2500.

Just as Obj removed the draconian tolling of every 5km along Enugu- Port Harcourt road in his days, Obi will remove the toll gate once he is sworn in.

Let all of us from SS and SE excercise some patience.

I do not know the actual cost of the project, but are you aware that rail line in the original design of that project was skipped. That was why the cost of executing the project was less of what Jonathan administration had earmarked, persons who did not have this information will think that the previous government inflated the cost of constructing the bridge.
