This party (PDP) mentioned zoning in its constitution without explicitly defining a zone. (First error).

The party's constitution speaks vaguely about justice, equity and fairness in the policy of rotation and zoning of elective offices. However, that so-called 'policy' is not defined in the PDP's constitution. Needless to say, the order or sequence of rotation and zoning is also absent in the document. (Second error).

Senator Ekpenyong has unilaterally decided that the next 3 PDP presidential candidates (starting from next year's election) should come from the North East, South East and North Central (in that order). The problem is: is that decision Ekpenyong's to make?

Details do matter. A lack of attention to detail has led to the confusing, contradictory, incomplete constitution that the PDP came up with - and which has mired the party in crisis after crisis.

Since the PDP has decided to adopt zoning (whatever that means ) the party's constitution needs to be specific on the thorny issues. What happens if a public office holder dies or is incapacitated? Should his replacement (at the earliest election) compulsorily come from his zone - to ensure that the zoning principle is upheld? (the late Umaru Musa Yaradua example comes to mind).
