The fact that an incident occurred within your workplace in the course of your work causing you injuries does not mean the employer is automatically liable.

The incident must be caused by the employer's unlawful act, omission or negligence.

The incident must have caused loss such as pains, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and amenities etc to the injured employee.

The above two paragraphs, imply that there must be a negligent act or omission and a resultant damage.

It is not just the presence of damage or negligence alone. The two must co-exist.

- Study Accounting or Economics .Make sure you're chartered ooo

- Do all you can to marry an ijebu woman. If you're a woman, vice versa.

- Get an Igbo man as very close friend.I mean the one you can share all your secrets with.

- After that, if you become a landlord,make sure all your tenants are from Ondo state. I mean the stubborn and obstinate indigenes. The factory fitted pride in them won't make them owe you one kobo.

- Get an Ibadan man as a close pal. Someone who will be a phone call right away. He will help you throw verbal missiles at those owing you. He will curse and humiliate them on your behalf. In all you do, don’t let an Ibadan know where you keep your cash. They can pilfer for Africa. Check out their cognomen (Oriki)...lol

- Get an Ogu (Egun) man as your driver or Personal Assistant (PA) ....lol. He’s very loyal.

- Make sure your casual playmate is an Ijesha man.

- Employ an Oshomalo person as your Chief debt collection officer.

Finally, try and get an Oro, Kwara man or Woman as a spiritual counselor. They are heavenly candidates by default.😀😀

FEDERAL INLAND REVENUE SERVICE ISSUE GUIDELINE ON WITHHOLDING AND SELF-ACCOUNT OF VALUE ADDED TAX (VAT).
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (“FIRS”) recently issued an information circular to serve as a guide to taxpayers, consultants and the public on the operation of withholding VAT and self-account of VAT. The circular aims to provide clarity on the modalities for taxpayers to withhold VAT and submit such VAT returns to the FIRS.

The information in the circular relied on the legal framework contained in section 10(3) of the Value Added Tax Act Cap VI, LFN 2004 (as amended) which states the obligation for taxable persons to withhold VAT on taxable transactions with Non-Residents (NR), Section 13(1-2) which obligated Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDA’s) and companies in the Oil and Gas sector to withhold and remit VAT, Section 14(3) that empowers the FIRS to appoint any person to deduct or withhold VAT.

How To Decline a Job Interview- 3 Formats.

When you realize you are no longer interested in a job role and wish to discontinue the interview process, there are better ways of communicating with recruiting specialist or hiring managers than “ghosting” them on interview day.

It’s not a crime to choose another offer or lose interest altogether. Remember you need to be professional and think of your personal brand.

There are 3 things to consider when you want to decline an interview, viz a viz :

👉🏽Timing - Don’t wait till the day of interview to send decline mail or absolutely ignore appointment and not pick up calls.

Employers and employees have different expectations in the workplace. And when these expectations are not communicated, the parties involved would always end up disappointed.

Employers expect their employees to be punctual, productive, and efficient.

On the other hand, employees expect, a good leadership, fair compensation, job security, and a good work-life balance.

It is always easier for employers to communicate their expectation. However, most employees find it difficult to communicate theirs which might be due to the culture of the organisation they find themselves in.

The gap between these expectations can lead to dissatisfaction and conflict in the workplace.

To close this gap, employers need to communicate their expectations clearly to their employees. How?

The best decision I made so far was to leave my comfort zone.

What's that your comfort zone?

I left civil service when I almost reached the peak of my career at my youthful age. Proudly today, I enjoy what I do.

Comfort zone might be your job, your place of residence, your family and your many more.

I am less concerned about any other thing but my success, my family and my career.

Too serious with work these days.

Many reports to submit, many presentations to make, many posts to write on and the engagements are too many. It's not easy to be an Accountant and the same time a consultant.

I am so sorry. I have an ongoing work on Departmental Vote Expenditures Accounts (DVEA) and the SAF framework, contributions are welcomed. We grow together.

Let me just update you on DVEA a bit.

DVEA is a government book of account equal to that your general ledger account in the private sector. But more powerful than your GL because it serves many purposes, among which are:

1. It reports performance against budget at a glance.

2. It shows the available balance per head and sub-head at a glance i.e it shows what's still available for spending during a financial year.

3. If probably maintains, it helps in preventing spending above your budget.

To me, DVEA is a control account in pulic sector finance.

With introduction of IPSAS, brilliant public sector Accountant can also deliver in private sector, if really wants to grow.

The document use in posting to DVEA include Journal Vouchers (JV), adjustment vouchers (AV), and payment vouchers (PV).

Never forget that your opening balances are from the estimate prepared departmentally, and approved by the legislative arm and implemented by the executive.

DVEA got complicated when there is adjustment to estimates in the approved budget, when there is virement or reallocation.

Among my achievements while in the public sector include development of excel template for preparation of final account from DVEA (GL) to SOFP. Implementation of IPSASs cash and accruals.

I started in the Local Govt as a messenger at my youthful age....
never call it a child abuse.

Recognizing the signs of a micromanager at work can help you find ways to deal with it.

Below are some subtle Micromanaging Tactics

👉Asking for updates every 30mins

👉 Overly involved and instructed employees to an excessive degree.

👉Call frequent meetings, ask for you to account for every minute of the workday, or position yourself as the sole point of contact.

👉Instead of delegating, micromanagers will take on or have a hand in all functions.

How To Write a Counteroffer to an Employer/Company.

👉🏽Are you dissatisfied with the offer letter sent to you on your new job?

👉🏽Are you quite uncertain about how to go about it?

You will need to make what we call a “ Counter Offer”. This is a proposal that is sent by a candidate to an employer that while he/she may be considering accepting the offer, some terms need to be adjusted.

There are 3 ways you can do this viz a viz :

1. Telephone Conversation.
2. One-on-One / Physically.
3. Sending letter or through an email.

For example, you may decide you want a better salary and benefit packages than that being offered as you have computed your worth, experience and skills or that you want a paid vacation allowance, which is missing in the original offer.

When candidates send counteroffer, it is the prerogative of the organization to accept or decline it entirely or tweak some aspect bearing in mind that there is usually a budget for most roles.

Some may also outrightly recall the initial Offer especially if one has agreed to all the terms before the offer was sent out.

Tips for writing a Counteroffer.

👉🏽 Be Concise and Clear: Avoid ambiguity. Articulate this by making reference to what you expect because of your experience and knowledge.

👉🏽 Be professional in your communication by being respectful, polite and firm.

👉🏽Avoid being emotional by whipping up sentiments.

👉🏽You can also let them know if there is another offer you are considering.

👉🏽 Let them know you are interested, keep it open-ended and remember there is a time frame.
