Nigerians living in the United Arab Emirate, Dubai are being deported from the oil rich country for reasons yet to be disclosed.

In a video that has since gone viral, scores of Nigerians are seen being chained together like animals and loaded in a bus heading to the airport for onward deportation.

According to one of the men in the video, fifteen more buses besides theirs have already been filled up with Nigerians awaiting deportation.

The man while advising Nigerians planning to go to Dubai, warned them to ask questions while arminh themselves with the necessary information to avoid their current scenario.

While this is not the first time Nigerians have faced deportation from Dubai, this is however the first time they are treated as being less than human, what with the way and manner they are being chained to prevent any possible escape.

Back in August 2022, Nigerians faced withforced expulsion from Dubai, had appealed to the federal government for assistance.

Since July 2021, Nigerians in the UAE have been victimised solely on account of their nationality and thousands have lost their jobs as new labour policy prohibits them from being issued work permits by the country’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MORHE) in charge of regulating labour affairs.

International laws which seek to protect the human rights of migrants prohibits arbitrary or collective expulsions and migration management is fundamental to ensuring stability and development of the state especially in a globalized world where labour mobility is a key feature.

Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Right states that “everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state”.

The Universal Declaration also states in Article 23 that everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment

Nigeria too should take the steps President Ahmed of Ethiopia did and plead with Dubai so it can repatriate its citizens trapped there

Nigeria is not the only country restricting repatriation of foreign owned airline companies funds. Do your research

The good thing is that this lot wount be able to enter uae again since their biometrics would have been well captured. By the time they clear them out, hopefully they will open the boarders for genuine Nigerian tourist, business people, students etc.
The one that pain me pass it the Turkish evisa ban. Something you do before online and get the visa in 5min.
