TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK: LASG MOVES TO REGULATE ACTIVITIES OF MAJOR, INDEPENDENT PETROLEUM MARKETERS

In view of the lingering fuel scarcity across the country, which has continued to affect the free flow of traffic in Lagos, the State Government has initiated moves to regulate the activities of Major and Independent Petroleum Marketers operating along major roads and traffic-prone areas within the State.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, noted that the move becomes imperative in order to check indiscriminate activities of motorists queuing to buy petroleum products and oftentimes impeding the free flow of traffic on some roads.

Oladeinde explained that Petroleum Marketers whose filling stations are situated on major highways and areas susceptible to traffic will henceforth be allowed to operate only between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm daily, pending when the fuel shortage crisis subsides.

He added that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Transport Operations Compliance Unit (TOCU) and other Law Enforcement Agencies have been charged to ensure a seamless flow of traffic across the State.

The Commissioner, therefore, implored all major and Independent Petroleum Marketers operating across the State to comply with the directive to avoid sanctions.

That's a very good development. The traffic is so crazy nowadays due to motorist blocking the roads and thereby causing unnecessary traffic.
However, the major causes of fuel shortage needs to be addressed.

lol funny people.

Instead of addressing the root cause of fuel scarcity making people to queue at filling stations, they rather go for window dressing the problem as usual.

Expect more of this kind of useless window dressing and agbero policies when and if Bola Tinubu wins next month's presidential election.

Nigerians should keep voting in stupid people as leaders.

Christians after you foolishly vote in terrorists as leaders next month, you can then resume your usual disturbing of God via fasting and prayers for miracles, una well done

Dis is a good approach.....those filling station should sell whatever dey want to sell in d morning and close by 4pm.....whoever needs fuel should go into filling stations not along the highway

The black-market traders are not helping the matter at all, especially on Island. They make getting fuel very difficult for the car owners.

This isn't the right approach, if you ask me. Address the cause of the scarcity first !!

Nairaland should create a section and call it lunatics where ppl like u can comment.....so dey should vote obi for lagos state governor too grin grin grin so he can invest the money lagos used in building rice mill and light rail into beer grin u first said lagos state will soon tell Lagosians when to eat just bcoz of dis standing order inorder to reduce rush hour traffic and u still complained about the effect of d filling station queue, can't u see u r not normal....and instead make u leave lagos and to to ur Anambra where ur ppl r killing themselves u have refused

Just bcoz of dis filling station queue I entered ikeja #200 from Maryland today and I used over an hour b4 I could get to Sheraton hotel

Please, stop attaching political sentiment to every issue. This policy will reduce the recent traffic jam that we are experiencing.

Is this a good move or bad move?
What really caused the fuel scarcity that's making queues to exist?
We v a govt that likes to make citizens comply to hardship by force.
A good govt ll face the fuel scarcity and solve the issue instead of dishing closing time to fuel stations. Na Dem give them money to start biz?

This gridlock can also be averted in a situation like this if all our road networks are motorable. How can LASG explain to her citizens that Apongbon Bridge and one other bridge have been shut down for several months without any likelihood of repairing them. They are now talking about 4th mainland bridge. This country needs deliverance.

But anyhow we see it, Nigerians are really suffering o
The suffering from every sector is top notch.

Our leaders are taking our resilience for granted.
There are countries that would have broken out in civil war or military take over because of these anomalies

High cost of food
No electricity
No fuel for cars or even generators
Insecurity
Terrible health care system
Bad roads.
A great number of Almajari children crawling all over Abuja streets and roads
