Robert A Heinlein once wrote, “Under what circumstances is it moral for a group to do that which is not moral for a member of that group to do alone?” This question completely captures the dilemma of Capital punishment. If we agree that it’s a crime to murder, then how does it become moral and excusable when it is done by the government? Does the government have the right take away something that it cannot give, precious human life. In other words, is death penalty justifiable?
