Upset indeed. If we're to go with your logic, that will mean Madrid's champions league drought from 2003 to 2013 was also an upset as they are supposed to win it every year or almost every year in the worst case.

Juventus had only one title when they beat defending champion Ajax in 1996 who had won it four times as at then to Juventus' one.
So also Bayern in 2010 with four titles lost to Inter who had only one as at then.
So there's no trend to cause an upset if we're to go with your thirty years range.
