UPDATED
Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, presidential candidates of political parties on Wednesday converged in Abuja to sign a peace accord.

Those present at the event include All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar.

The PUNCH reports that the peace accord is voluntary and not mandatory for political parties to participate. However, it’s a mediation process that helps forestall electoral-related violence.

No fewer than 18 candidates are jostling to succeed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), as president of Africa’s most populous country.

Details later…

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon(rtd), and former South African President, Mr Thabo Mbeki are present at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, to witness the signing of a peace pact by political parties and candidates participating in the 2023 general elections.

The presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, and his
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, are among other presidential candidates present to sign the pact organised by the General Abdulsalami Abubakar-led National Peace Committee, NPC.

The presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, is yet to arrive at the time of filing this report.

However, the national chairman of his party, Julius Abure is present.

On October 20, 2020, that was the day it was needed for Tinubu to sign a peace accord but instead he declared war on innocent Nigerian youths. Killed them at the toll gate and suppressed the media from reporting it.

Nigerians do not forget Tinubu and APC wickedness. Vote wisely

We all know those who are desperate in this election.

But this peace accord is hypocritical of INEC when they have refused to address injustices around this election with millions of obi's voters being targeted for disenfranchisement.
