Ghanaians are working very hard to overtake Nigerian when it comes to 419 scams. Ghanians are number one in dating scam and credit card scam. Almost everyone is involved. The saddest part is that young boys and girls, as young as 13 years old are using charms/juju in thier 419 trade, this is why MOST Ghanaian 419 scammers die very young, they hardly last upto 4 years bc of all the charms, juju and sacrifices they do. They mostly die through accident. In Ghana it is called SAKAWA or Blood Money in English. Just Google the word SAKAWA and see things for yourself,

Another sad thing is Ghanians never admit their boys are doing scam, they claim only Nigeria has scammers and fraudsters,

TO MY UNDERSTANDING, THIS IS NOT 100% FRAUD, THEY GUY WAS FEELING LUCKY, HE DECIDED TO TRADE FOR CUSTOMERS, BECAUSE HE BELIEVED  HE WOULD MAKE MORE PROFIT FOR THE CUSTOMERS AND HIMSELF, THEN IT BACK-FIRED.  HE TRADED WITH  CUSTOMERS  FUNDS AND LOST, IF HE GAINED, WE WONT HEAR THIS STORY.

No matter what you say Nigeria would still surpass everybody in Africa so far as criminal and fraudulent behaviours are concerned. We Know every country has bad people but Nigerians always take it to a different level. They I guess introduced this 419 and sakawa to Ghanaians. Once Nigerians started trooping to Ghana I knew they were in trouble, they would corrupt and corrupt your young innocent minds, they are like pest. They should kick Nigerians out of Ghana.

Are some folks here that uninformed?! The guy was a star trader making billions for UBS hence his promotion/elevation to the status of directorship at UBS equity trading in such a short time.  Kweku was on a six figure salary a year and much bigger bonuses whenever he makes £££ for UBS.

To go rogue like that, a trader must have incurred some losses in one of his activities and probably tried to recoup that money lost with an amount that wasn't authorized by his superiors. Thus, he gambled on a market that wasn't favourable and came out bruised. I believe he had gone through the same episode before and probably came out fine with huge profits that covered those losses - a huge bonus earned there (a pat on the back). The boy is really exceptional at his job. A genius in fact!

Normally, the managers would know whats up with your activities, look at the other side and reward you when you're successful. The problem arises when you hit a snag and big losses set in. You're then labelled 'rogue' for not seeking authorization before 'gambling' away such colossal amounts.

Unlike, the other rogue traders, Kweku reported the losses incurred himself. He alerted his superiors himself and was subsequently arrested at his desk 3.30 am. He was still working when he was arrested, unlike the other rogue traders that went on the run. That means he had nothing to hide, so some folks here better ascertain or learn a thing or two about equity trading before spouting incomprehensible and ridiculous accusations. The guy never took money for himself! Could you imagine the deliberations and lobbying in the office before opting to hang him? They just want a fall guy. . .

Maybe he will get some months for unauthorized trading(deemed fraud here). But hey, he could well be exonerated as well.

I have it on good authority that Mr. Adoboli is in fact Nigerian, and I understand that the trade involved persuading UBS to lend him two billion for just two weeks! This would enable him to pay a lawyer so he could free up an inheritance of $ two trillion!!! Apparently, UBS stood to make $ one trillion from the trade. So, if you look at the big picture, the trade was not a bad risk at all, in fact Mr. Adoboli’s supervisor should be asked to unresign immediately, and Mr. Adoboli should be given a knighthood! Too bad the bet didn’t pay off (apparently, the lawyer absconded with the $ two billion instead of using it to probate the estate–just bad luck, I guess!), but that’s just a detail!!!

Looser, there are very large number of Nigerians living in other countries like South Africa, Ivory Coast etc, why are citizens of those countries not doing 419 scam? Take Ivory Coast for instance, Nigerians have been living in that country for over 40 years and I have never heard that a citizen of that country is ever involved in 419 scam? Ghanians are criminally minded people even the small ones, there is no small person in Ghana, everyone in Ghana wants to get rich quick. When you talk about 419 scam in Africa Ghana comes immediately after Nigeria, Ghana will overtake Nigeria sooner than later. Nigerians do not do sakawa, Sakawa is a Ghanaian invention. Check the meaning of Sakawa on the internet before you open your bloated mouth to talk rubbish.

If you are Ghanaian living in Ghana, try visiting Ghana post office headquarters in Accra, you will weep for your country. Young boys as young as 13 are receiving thousands of items on daily basis, mostly laptops/expensive phones, jewelries and electronics bought with stolen credit cards, The Ghana post officials knows whats going on but they prefer to close their mouth bc these boys pay them well

Foolish and ignorant Nigerians. lets continue congratulating ourselves that ghana is in the news for fraud. A big clap of hands for ourselves!
If the guy had made a $2b mistake in favour of UBS, he would have been a hero and would have been showered with bonuses. He was their star trader and his exuberance got the better of him. when your trading with so much money in very fast moving markets, its easy to get tangled in a webb of losses that he could not get out of. It also show a lack of oversight on the part of UBS management. obviously, they have weak controls. Despite the headlines, he may be vindicated at the end. There are no such things as rogue traders. You only become rogue when you lose a lot of money for your firm.

The bank's internal control system is rubbish, he couldnt have been able to bypass the system to trade with such money without being signed off by a senior official. He is just a scapegoat, he would be rewarded abundantly after his jail term by those he covered their flaws.

Btw, this is not fraud, he is just overzealous. If he had made gains on the trades, it would have gone into the bank coffers.

It's so refreshing to see a blackman in a finacial history books lipsrsealed and this clearly shows casino culture of investment banks. He should get a good writer to pen his biography and start teaching finance professionals about compliance and loopholes.

The word FRAUD is annoying to me. It is not fraud. Things will not change though. Until the next person gets too cocky and then he goes to jail. Makes headlines and disappears for a while. The cycle continues

BREAKING: Two ivorian refugees have been murdured in ghana by their fellow refugees. The two arrived at a refugee camp at a town called elubo and were subsequently processed to stay by the ghanaian authorities on 15th september but when the two got to the camp, the other refugees said they wouldn't allow them to stay because they are baukinabes and not ivorian. Further check by authorities confirmed that they were truely ivorians. On the following day,16th sept, the ghanaian authorities found the two men strangled to death and thrown in a nearby bush. Many ghanaian are calling for the police to bring the pepetrators to book and deport the ivorian refugees if they are not willing to live with people of other nationalities. Liberians and sierra leonian refugees and ghanaians have been living peacefully at buduburam near the capital for nearly 2 decades. Most of the refugees have attain higher education and good life during these years.

What you don't realize is There are more poor smelly Nigerians than the whole population of Ghana, silly. Ghanaians don't give a shiit about Nigerians, they would rather wish you take your trouble somewhere else. Nobody wants to entertain you in their country. You lawless pests.
