Now that the general election is over, our immediate attention must be geared towards the leadership of the National Assembly, the representatives of the people in Government. While Nigerians were engrossed in the Presidential election race, most people ignored the National Assembly elections. According to a poll by the intelligence company SBM, interest in National Assembly elections by the electorate was below 20% before the election on February 25, showing ,out people do not under stand the importance of the National Assembly. Nigerians must immediately change this attitude and follow the nomination and election of Leaders in the 10th Assembly keenly as they did the Presidential Election.

One of the major factors in National Assembly leadership is the zoning of roles to reflect the diversity of the country, since the National Assembly is filled with Senators and Reps from all states in the country cutting across most tribes, the zoning arrangement usually come from the political party with the majority in the house and legislators usually follow this agreement to share principal offices, we have seen little exceptions like the infamous election that made Dr Bukola Saraki the Senate President when he was able to unite opposition Senators with a faction from his own party to emerge victorious like his colleague in the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara that was able to achieve same.

As the election for the Speakership draws close, the APC must look within itself and remain steadfast to do the right thing for national unity in sharing these positions, they must consider competence, character, experience, contribution to the party and victory and the principle of Federal Character. These are all factors that will determine the speakership position and this will also depend largely on the Senate Presidency tussle.

After the success of the APC ticket, it is apparent that the Senate Presidency will be zoned to either one of the two Christian majority zones, The South East and the South South in order to emphasize national unity. Seeing as both the President (South West) and Vice President (North East) are muslims, it goes without saying that the Senate Presidency is now a straight battle between the other two Southern zones, after competence and experience is considered and most legislators will be expecting the party leadership and the President elect to provide instructions on this.

This takes us to the Speakership, the North West, Nigeria’s most populated zone with the most states and voters contributed immensely to the APC victory in the Presidential election. President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu polled 2,652,824 of his votes, some 31% from the North west region alone, more than any other zone, the North West will definitely make a strong claim for Speakership and they have experienced legislators to present to the party and the House of Representatives. One of the experienced lawmakers that is expected to throw his hat into the ring is Hon. Tajudeen Abass Kaduna(APC) a 4th term representative that is cool headed, a requirement for a potentially volatile 10th National Assembly. Hon Abass sponsored the most number of bills assented to by the President in both the 8th and 9th Assembly, showing his effectiveness and brilliance in Law making.

With the names above, it is clear that the North West’s claim to speakership, counting for experience and competence is solid and it will be very good for the progress and unity of the country if the party leadership and the President elect provide immediate guidance and leadership in order of us to have a peaceful and effective 10th National Assembly.

Akpabio is who we want.
He was one of the best governors in the country during his tenure. People should be voted on their signature achievements.
We know what akpabio did, we know what tinubu did. Nobody can mention anything about Orji kalu or this Tajudeen Abass.

No oh..
Why not give all top 10 political positions to the North.
They deserve it.

We southerners are just gala wrapper. In fact, we don't even exist.

Take everything and rule yourself.

While you are at it, make sure they are Muslims, you hear?

BREAKING!!! Chief Justice Of Nigeria, Ariwoola Disguises On Wheelchair In London Hotel For Secret Meeting With President Elect, Bola Tinubu

The Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola has been sighted in London pretending to be a physically-challenged old man, in what Supreme Court sources said was a clandestine preparation for a meeting with President-elect Bola Tinubu.

Ariwoola’s movement was exposed to The Gazette as Mr Tinubu was arriving in London for what his team claimed was a relaxation trip after a hectic campaign that preceded his declaration as Nigeria’s president-elect last month. But Tinubu kept his trip to London secret until it was exposed on Wednesday afternoon by Sahara Reporters, which said the trip was a medical emergency.

Ironically the position of speaker should not be ceeded to the North West rather Middle Belt which the Northerners claim that geographically we are North Central but when it comes to political position sharing, we won't be consider but overlook and we are suppose to be more recognize than other zones of the country due to our tribes and population.
In time of war, we are the one to be use but this time around, nothing like that can happen again.
For fairness and justice, North Central should not be excluded from number 3th citizens to 6th Citizen.

It is a no-brainer.

The Speakership is going to the NorthWest.

Specifically, to Kaduna.

They do to be honest and they will get it. But Senate Presidency will have to go to SS and a Christian. Even though NW/NC deserves it more. But Nigeria will not let that happen

While the Southsouth helped Tinubu get the required statutory 25% of 2/3rd of states to win the presidency the Southeast vehemently and openly worked against him, and gave all their votes to Obi who promptly lost to Tinubu.

The jungle has now matured. It's time to reap where you sowed, and the Southeast, not retrospective over why they are out of the power equation again, are asking Tinubu to reward them with the Senate Presidency at the expense of the well derserving people of Southsouth for what they call "national unity" reasons.

Didn't they know that there was something called "national unity" before and during the elections? How can you work for Hero Beer and ask MTN to pay your salary? How can you refuse the offer of Unilever shares, go ahead to buy the shares of Next Supermarket, and after Next made a loss, you ask Unilever to deprive their shareholders and pay you their dividends - all because you suddenly remember national unity?

You cry marginalization when nobody ever deprived you of anything you earned in Nigeria, but want to be rewarded with fruits of the labour of the people of Southsouth as if they don't matter or are non-existent as far as you are concerned?

Look at the facts and tell me who deserves to produce the next Senate President between the Southeast and Southsouth:

1. Southeast gave Tinubu 0/5 of their states.
Southsouth gave him 5/6 of their states

2. Southeast gave Tinubu 6% of their votes.
Southsouth gave him 30% of their votes.

3. The Southeast senators that won their seats selfishly worked for themselves only in the election and neglected Tinubu. Thus they had huge numbers for themselves while Tinubu had almost nothing from their places.
The Southsouth senators that won their seats worked for both themselves and Tinubu. Thus they both had huge numbers from their places.

4. The entire Southeast zone gave Tinubu a paltry 127k votes.
Cross River state alone which is not even the highest in their zone, gave him 130K votes, and as a zone Southsouth gave him 800K votes.

5. The trend of APC's votes in the Southeast is falling in every election since 2015.
APC's votes in the Southsouth has been rising in every election since 2015.

6. Southeast has not forgiven APC for the loss of the presidency by their "son" Jonathan when they defeated their beloved PDP in 2015.
The Southsouth have moved on, forgotten about 2015, and are embracing APC. Their body language suggests that they don't want to be in opposition anymore.

7. According to the present trends, with the Senate Presidency, the Southeast will still NEVER vote for APC in the future. Their unwarranted hatred for the party is too deep.
According to the present trends, with the Senate President, the Southsouth have a chance of becoming another APC stronghold in the near future.

If politics remain a game of numbers, why should APC deprive the Southsouth zone which is becoming a fertile land for them to garner higher votes in the future, of the Senate Presidency in order to placate the Southeast which is determined to remain a political desert that irrespective of how much they are appeased, cannot yield the party any useful number of votes going forward?
