For those asking what's so special about Abuja.

Abuja is special for 2 reasons:

1) It is the Federal Capital Territory, ie the seat of power

2) The president is it's governor.

Thus, the constitution is clear that you must have at least 25% of the votes in Abuja. This shows acceptance by the people you intend to govern.

Yes votes are equal but a Federal Capital Territory is not a state
Why do you say 36 states and FCT?
Why not 37 states
Why do we have 36 state governors

I can see how the Op is sweating profusely to explain what is not. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been elected as the president and nothing can truncate his presidency. Obi can never never be our president.

Na like this you dumb reach? Even if it's so, can't you do some research before coming here to display your dumbness? Anyways, for your information the president is not seen as the governor of FCT as you claimed the political office holder seen as the governor is no other than the FCT MINISTER.

In addition, AbJ has one senator while other states have 3 senators each.

No mind them, some will say what if I win the 36 states and don't have 25% in Abj but it doesn't make sense bla bla bla. How can someone win 36 states and find it hard to win FCT? You will 36 states but can't win FCt, no be rigging be that? Some people no dey think.

Don't mind them. They want to eat their cake and have it.
If FCT is a state, it should be treated like a state.
FCT has never been treated like a state
If FCT is not a state, it cannot be treated like a state
If it is not panadol, it is not the same thing as panadol.

Olodo ni e. The FCT is not the representation of Nigeria as a whole. It's just like every other state in Nigeria.

Let me educate you and your likes this morning
The constitution says a presidential candidate has to win the highest number of votes[b/] and also has to [b]win 25% of the votes in not less than 24 states of the federation and the FCT before he/she can be declared the winner. Right?

If you put the second conditional statement up there in another way it will be: the candidate has to win 25% of the votes in not less than 24 states of the federation including/excluding the FCT.

The above statement can only lead to another argument because it can be misinterpreted. How? It simply can mean 1) Election may not hold in the FCT because result there is inconsequential. 2) The people of the FCT have no say on who becomes the president of the country.

So the best that can be adopted of the conditional statements regarding the 25% of the FCT is the one that's being adopted presently by the constitution. If I have 25% in 23 states and the FCT, the two summed together is 24 states which gives me winning. In the other way, if I have my 25% in 24 states already and I don't have 25% in the FCT, I still win.

Capeesh?

A simple question requires a factual answer not a rant
All you need to do is provide the information or say to do not know

Once again did Yar'adua get 25% in 2007 in Abuja
How many votes did he get and how many people voted

grin grin grin

You are misquoting section 299 of the consititution

The provisions of this Constitution shall apply to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as if it were one of the States of the Federation; and accordingly -

(a) all the legislative powers, the executive powers and the judicial powers vested in the House of Assembly, the Governor of a State and in the courts of a State shall, respectively, vest in the National Assembly, the President of the Federation and in the courts which by virtue of the foregoing provisions are courts established for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja;

(b) all the powers referred to in paragraph (a) of this section shall be exercised in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution; and

(c) the provisions of this Constitution pertaining to the matters aforesaid shall be read with such modifications and adaptations as may be reasonably necessary to bring them into conformity with the provisions of this section.

Section 299 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
More: https://jurist.ng/constitution/sec-299

Labour Party argues the President is the governor of the FCT and should have 25% of the votes cast. However the National assembly members are the legislators of the FCT and nearly all of them have 0% vote in the FCT. So it doesn't apply using that logic.

What is improtant is that section 299 clearly states the constitution considers the FCT as if it was one of the states in Nigeria. Therefore when read with section 134

(1) A candidate for an election to the office of President shall be deemed to have be been duly elected, where, there being only two candidates for the election -

(a) he has the majority of votes cast at the election; and

(b) he has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election in each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

(2) A candidate for an election to the office of President shall be deemed to have been duly elected where, there being more than two candidates for the election-

(a) he has the highest number of votes cast at the election;

and

(b) he has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
More: https://jurist.ng/constitution/sec-134

You may likely argue that intent of the law is to state that in considering the spread of 25% of vote Abuja should be considered. Not as a special place but as if it were one of the states of the federation as stated in section 299 of the constitution.

Why then state Abuja separately in section 134? That's because Abuja is not a state but must be considered as a state. Infact Obi is said to have won 12 states even though Abuja is not a State. That is only true because section 299 considers Abuja as if it were a state

Your problem is literacy and the usual hircine aggression that Obidients have
If you can read and comprehend simple English you would see that the link provided never said anything about Abuja and 69%
You are he one arguing blindly and foolishly
In 2007 INEC NEVER told us the number of voters in any of the 36 states or Abuja and NEVER gave any percentage for Abuja and so we
HAVE NEVER been told whether Yar'adua got 25% in Abuja
That information has NEVER been made public
INEC just provided communication to tell us that Yaradua got 24,638,063 =69.6% nationally full stop. There was no breakdown.
If you were literate you would have deduced that
Go back and read what he posted about Maurice Iwu

So the claim that All presidents have got 25% in Abuja is a lie
No one knows what he got in Abuja in 2007
