In a sane country with more sane bloggers, handshake can never be news.

Does Oba Bini have Oloyo/Alaafin popularity across the globe to even compare with Ooni ?

Do you know how many Lightskin Caucasians want to meet Ooni ? But here you comparing !

This Ooni of Ife is a young and liberal king that mingles and moves freely with all.

He does not care how you shake him so far you are a VIP.

But in his palace, you must postrate and get the 'Oba n ki o' response.

All the past VIP visitors to the palace have postrated including OBJ with exception of Pastor Adeboye and incumbent Governors and President.

Even incumbent governors nd president will prostrate when they visit him in his Palace

Including pastor Adeboye

It is d culture nd tradition

Though he should be stingy with handshake like d late oni of ife. Oba sijuade, oba Aderemi

Our new generation kings in Yoruba land have relegated tradition and royalty to the lowest abyss.

Gone are the days when kings used to be scare in the public, but now, they shuttle politicians’ houses and offices for recognition and contracts.

Will they see this one. Tinubu that sat and waited for Ooni to come and greet him nko ?

If you don't know that some of these people are chronic congenital hypocrites then you're new to Nigeria

I am poised to say all this much ado about nothing.
However this much fuss is quite significant.

The episode that transpired between Pete Edochie and the Ooni of Ife is the genesis and the root cause of the chaos that has plagued and continues to plague humanity- when cultures clash aka culture shock.

To the Igbos, bowing down to a fellow man is idolatry.
Their culture only recognises bowing down to God or gods.

To the Yoruba, bowing down is a gesture of respect and honour which communicates good manners and a sign of being well-cultured from a good home.

Here in lies the dilemma.
When a yoruba bows to the igbo, he is considered inferior.
And when the igbo fails to bow to greet an elder yoruba, he is considered proud/arrogant and "uncultured" from a yoruba's tradition.

Therefore the Igbo going about in a yoruba land unwittingly elicits pride and dishonor and by inference bad will among the yorubas.

What then is the conclusion?
Let's be cautious of our traditions and cultural norms and biases.
The bible is a unifying culture that easily settles these disputes, if in deed we have submitted to the Lordship of Christ and His Word.
The bible says we should not worship man but God.
And it does not speak against bowing to fellow man as a sign of respect and honor.

God help us that through this episode we will come to a better understanding and this would help foster our socio-cultural integration and help unify us a diverse and strong entity.

This is why many of us have been saying that the damage APC has done to this useless country it will take years to repair.

The reason why this didn't trend is because of what happened in the last election. APC has divided our country so bad
