Senator Akpabio is a crook and corrupt individual that shouldn’t be allowed to smell the SP sit.

That being said,The APC NEC should meet with all its senators to come up with a better option from the south East other than Urji Uzo Kalu, the thief.

The SE is even inconsequential when it comes to national politics and therefore, should never even get the SP position.

They should consider the SW for the SP.

When Buhari was president in the first regime who is for the North, Saraki also was SP who was also from the North.

So,having a SP from the west isn’t a bad idea if the EAST AND SOUTH ARE NOT COMPETENT ENOUGH.

When last did we have a Senate president from the South West?

Don't worry, they will even consider you, right after you repent from tribalistic comments. Politics of hatred and division all over the place, can you guys just give it a break!!

The calibre of people that will work with Tinubu will determine the fate Nigerian will hv in his government
moreso, senator Godswill Akpabio was a good Past Governor of Akwa Ibom state with excellent proves to show for it and he as left a templates future incoming Govenors of the state can use to manage the affairs of the state which i think has been helpgul for the previous governor IDom Emmanuel. But sadly, the famous good govenors havn't switch to becoming a Senator have become so corrupt that large chunk of money is been diverted for private use. .They even go to the extent of breaking colanut to take oath of secrecy so to embezzle funds. .Akpabio is not fit to a senate president under this new disoensation

Was Buhari's regime the first to have President and Senate President from the same "region"? Wasn't it the same under Rtd General Olusegun Obasanjo where President and Senate President where from the south?

That's how it's supposed to be.

Why is that "how it's supposed to be"? Shouldn't it be competence over place of origin? Especially considering that this government has been touting Government of National Competence?

That's not what I am saying. I am asking why we only have to consider competent people within the south. Why don't we have to consider all qualified and competent people that are Nigerians irrespective of where in Nigeria they come from? Note that I am from the South South and an Akpabio Senate Presidency is supposed to "favour me and my family"

If tinibu that is accused of drug trafficking and state capture can be president then yari is more than qualified to be the senate president.

That's one thing with Niger Delta people. They love taking bribes. These ones are speaking for their selfish interest and not for Niger Delta. What would a senate President bring to Niger Delta other than to sit and rubber stamp?

Senate Presidency: Niger Delta Group Rejects Akpabio, Backs Yari

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYWMskV9I5k

A group which prides itself as the mother body of all concerned Niger Delta stakeholders, the Coalition of Concerned Niger Delta stakeholders has denied endorsing the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio for the position of the Senate President of the 10th Senate.

The group says it seriously kicks against the APC's choice of backing Akpabio as the preferred candidate for office of the President of the 10th Senate.

Speaking at a press conference on the state of the nation in Abuja, the president of the group, Odiedim Amachree says the antecedents of Akpabio leave much to be desired, saying the former minister of Niger Delta is not fit to occupy the position.

The group instead endorsed the former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari who it says is eminently qualified to be the president of the 10th National Assembly.

"Abdulaziz Yari wields the magic wand and indeed remains the one to beat in our view and considered opinion.

"He is a lover of this nation, a fulfilled politician, a man that can be trusted. We therefore believe the Senators should be allowed to choose their leadership without any external influence whatsoever", he stated.

Also speaking, a youth stakeholder of the group Nwisabari Bani said the tenth National Assembly needs a pragmatic leadership that will create a synergy for the executive to deliver in its mandate.

According to him, Yari represents that candidate who will speak truth to power and ensure that all Nigerians enjoy the dividends of democracy.

It called on members of the Senate to reject Akpabio and vote Yari as their president.

Niger Delta has long collected the baton of political uselessness from the south east. That's the reason people like the criminal militant Asari who for years, was plundering pipelines and killing security operatives, but now, he is roaming Abuja street with fellow young criminals in the name of solidarity for Asiwaju.

A criminal like Asari who displays his arsenal conspicuously but hasn't been arrested for possession of arms.

I'm super impressed that Akwaibom State is leaving the rest of those crude Niger Deltans behind

Nigeria could be a huge fcken joke..

I may agree with that Akpabio is among the most topmost corrupt politicians in the world, but my question is this "is there any politician in current Nigeria that is not corrupt?"

Maybe Tinubu sees no person he wants in the south South except Akpabio hence he hates Southeastners.

I come in peace ✌️.

I don't know this group and I don't want to. All I know is Akpabio can never be trusted, the man is a thief and he doesn't fly straight. Imagine all he did in NDDC.... The Senate should look for another consensus candidate, or rather APC. We don't want another disaster in the name of senate President. The man is hunting this job to avoid EFCC from getting him, don't forget he has a lot to answer for.... Be informed.
