No known code sir, they are encrpted with CAS system, not known to have been hacked yet. My advice is, depending on where u are living, u should get a 1.8m or 3m dish, then turn west hook up to nilesat and aenjoy somany FTA and hacked Irdeto2 platform using str4653x.Provided u know your way

Breaking news! to those of u using nilesat I have down loaded MTV at freq 7.747V. They give hot english songs. Actual launch date of the channel is Nov the 17th.

Strong decoder in Kaduna SRT4653X latest in nija market is 7500N, those of you in the south dont buy more than 10K. Ku lnb is 800N each, dont buy more than 1k

@ pitodenz

I don't use Strong myself but I have done a quick online check and it seems that with latest software Showtime will be available on the 4653X.

See the links below ---- but be sure you know how to load the software to your receiver so as not to damage it.

@ Pitodenz -- an 8m dish is obviously massive and I can imagine that it might pull in Hotbird; however, Hotbird only has about 2000 channels; so maybe ur friend was tracking other satellites as well.

@ jofranco

If you get e.g. a 2.4 (or at least a 1.8 ) dish and ask the installer to use a 'jack' with it, you will have some options; also if possible, ask the installer to use 1 Ku LNB and 1 C LNB --- that way your options will increase considerably. (It could be better to use one dual band LNB but they seem difficult to find). If you cannot use a 'jack' an alternative is to use 2 or more Ku LNBs as jujukemist suggested.

@ 3ple

Like Nigeria, Cameroun is not ordinarily within the footprint of Nilesat; this means you will need a big dish to have any chance!

My commendation to Jujuchemist and Enigma for their contributions on this topic. Can any one tell me how to connect two lnbs on a dish facing west (Nilesat position for example) to also receive signal from another satelite in the east. Some one says it is possible, but I do not know how to hook up.

Hi all free-to-air knowledged ones,

after so much deliberations on my personal thinking, seems like i will be resorting to the 1.2m dish in lagos, nigeria,
i will like to know know the best satellite to point to using this dish size.

Your opinions will highly be appreciated.

Bros, go back on this thread, you will find tips. I am also planning to put a video or a picture of my dish setup on this forum, so that you guys can have a practical description. What is your dish size? set you dish facing west-hang your ku lnb in the middile using the tripod attachment. Then, after connecting your coxial cable to the lnb,to the reciever, to the TV, then elevate your dish by11 to 13 cm horizontal, be watching the tv-if you are lucky, the decoder indicator turns green, then you lock the knob,
Correction please: MTV on nilesat is at freq 11.977 V.
Nollywood can also be gotten on Intel 801 satellite, positions beside the ku lnb capturing nilesat.
As at Friday night the Irdeto2 software has been patched-therefore the unlocked channels will go back locked

Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by Enigma(m): 10:18am On Nov 14, 2007
@ Enitan

What is "patched" is the receiver; it simply means loading different software on the receiver from the one that came with it originally (usually the later software will enable you to watch more channels than the original). It can be done by anyone; over here many people patch their own receivers themselves though you can pay someone to do it.

How it works: you have to download two different software; the first is the "Loader" which you will use to load the main software to the receiver; the second is the latest "patch" software itself. Then you need the right cable with which to connect your computer to the receiver. When the time comes for you to patch a receiver, come back and we'll talk you through it.

@ Butoneday

You need to give more information: in which part of the country are you; what type and size of dish do you want to use; and what other satellite apart from Nilesat are you planning to receive. This info is necessary to be able to advise further.

Patched, also, in this context connotes the fact that, the owners of the Irdeto2 software on the strong reciever has found a way to beat the hackers, who caused them to lose revenue,by modyfying the software, so that 6969 would be invalid.
Thanks Enigma for our constructive contributions-At least we are no longer fighting anymore. I believe this is the best thread on Nairaland, because it is IT oriented and we as africans are learning a lot here.It also brings out the research potentials in some of us to be abreast with happinings in the Digital World
