Dead Friend Owes Me Money by LittleBigDick(m): 3:40am On Sep 18
He died 2 months ago. At first I thought “I'm not going to ask the family, I'll look like an asshole." but then I thought that ultimately I am within my rights. He owes me money, I have the right to go and claim it from his family.

I was thinking of going to his mother's house and asking her to pay me back, bringing the subject up very gently. I could talk to her about her son at the beginning then say, after 10 or 20 minutes of conversation, "by the way, he owed me 850k, could you pay me back?"

What do you think?

You are itching to join your friend in the grave, I see? The one you had a contract with is dead. So, unless he specifically told you to see his family after his death — should have a signed affidavit of sorts — then you better accept that you can no longer reach him. undecided

Forget about sentiments. You are within your rights to go ask the family for that money. Because if you were the one owing him and the family knew about it, they would surely have come to meet you since for their son's money

The narrative is different when u are alive.. Because even ur own conscience will disturb you if you are responsible..

That's just sentimental reasoning. When you're dead your next of kin takes your property. And your liabilities. It's that simple.

U borrowed him a huge sum of money, so I expect that the family or someone close to the family should be aware.

Go and see his mom. After a subtle greetings. Ask.... don't demand.

Ask her gently if her son gave her anything to give you, ofcourse she will want to know what you are asking about.

Gently tell her and listen to what she will say.

That way, u will know if you will ever get your money back either in full or part or NEVER.... otilo.

if the family has the money and you can provide evidence, they will definitely pay you
....Last year my late friend's father paid most of his debt of almost 6m. Is a serious issue from a spiritual angle.

Quite unfortunate! This is why I constantly pray for my customers... sometimes my debt per individual runs in millions. Hmmmm make God help person oo. You cannot owe me and come and die. Who will pay you the money Except you have a capable next of kin who swiftly takes over the business and wishes to continue

Or a capable next of kin that's aware of the loan and wishes to offset. If not Otilo

Islamic ally I think the family of the dead is mandate to pay debts if he owes anyone, just the same way his debtors would be mandated to pay to his family

But one thing I can tell you is, otilo

The dead tell no tale and pay no debt

What other proof do I need other than I sent it to his account and he received it .
Re: Dead Friend Owes Me Money by Bankowner: 9:57am On Sep 18
And what if the money sent to his account is you paying him back the debt you owe him? Your proof is more than watery.

There is what is called bad debt.

When you don't tie a debt to an asset then it is almost impossible to get it back after the Denise of the debtor.

This is an example to only gve money to those who can afford to place an asset for the purpose of loan. I also gave a friend loan without collateral, he is alive but I have not been able to retrieve it because I can afford to let go of the money. This incident taught me a lesson about loans and friendship.

Borrow means taking while lend means giving

That's not a prove.

Both of you might have been involved in a business that warranted you giving him his share.

Always put your agreement in any business dealings in formal form for future reference purpose.
