Nigeria’s Track and Field Queen Tobi Amusan has deepened her purse after she pocketed tens of millions for her success at the Diamnd League.

Tobi Amusan is N55 million richer following her outstanding performance at the Diamond League in Eugene, USA.

The Nigerian sprinter put behind her all her troubles and powered herself to a podium finish, equaling America's Dawn Nelson-Harper's feat of winning the Women's 100m hurdles three consecutive times.

Breakdown of Tobi Amusan Prize Money
Athletes at the Diamond League often participate in a series of meetings before the event's final, which is held within two days.

First position at the series meeting gets $10,000, second gets $6,000, while third position is entitled to $3,500. There’s also prize money for those who finish between fourth to eighth.

Meanwhile, at the final of the Diamond League, the winner gets $30,000, while $12,000 and $7,000 is available for those in second and third place, respectively.

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan participated in three series meetings (finishing first on two occasions and second once). She also won the final of the Women’s 100m Hurdles event.

Tobi Amusan for all her troubles at the Diamond League, earned $56,000 (N55,048,000) in total.

The Nigerian Hurdler recovered from a disappointing outing at the World Championships in Budapest to retain her Diamond League trophy.

26-year-old Tobi Amusan finished in sixth position at the final in Budapest but was back to her best at Eugene, winning in a season-best time of 12.33 seconds.

The win was Amusan’s third consecutive triumph at the Diamond League. She made history in 2021, becoming the first African to win the Women’s 100m trophy with a time of 12.42s before defending her title in 2022, running 12.29s.

After the race, Tobi Amusan said, “I’m just grateful to God, that’s all I can say this season”

Tobi Amusan has now turned her attention to the 2024 Olympics.
