Sometimes when I look at my dad,I only wonder how he managed to do it....As in,how he managed to take care of my brothers and I after the death of my mom despite being jobless..............There was never a time we went hungry...We were even privileged to attend one of the best private school in town...Tho there were challenges along the line but it really helped shaped us into being what and who we are becoming....



Op, it's never been easy...........But trust me, there's no wicked father anywhere who would fold his hands and watch his children lack when he has the ability to solve their problem....

Your mom is an enbler , so many parents are fond of that , especially in Nigeria, they'll train just one person in order for the person to train 5 or 6 of his or her siblings, depending on the number of siblings that particular person has.

Must she attend private school? Education is free in government school. Since 25k is big deal. Get her enrolled in government secondary school

About the OP , your father is not irresponsible. It's just that he is a victim of the Nigerian process.

Oga, I don't just want to abuse you, but it's very foolish of you to sound this way, you that's complaining that your father couldn't raise the money, but he has raised you and send you to the university, what's your contribution to the family, why don't you have all the money, your Dad told you that he has not eaten since yesterday, your sympathy to him is coming to Naira land and call him irresponsible, do you even care to know what he's passing through. My own dad is even fair, but he Bleep up in some area, he retired as assistant director of DSS and he didn't take care of us as a children. Not even fixing some of us into federal job. Am struggling to survive. Sometimes I feel like taken my life because it's not easy.

Maybe you should ask your mother why she had at least 2 children with an “irresponsible” man.

Sounds to me your father is not the only irresponsible person in this story. The quicker you acknowledge your mothers failings in this, the quicker you understand not to make the same errors yourself.

Everybody carries a cross in life, this is yours, the quicker you accept your parents are flawed without disrespecting them and moving on with your life the better for you. You do what you can and leave the rest to God.

Why is your mother asking you to fund your sister's education?

If the father is not providing, they should kick him out of the house and between you and your mother fund your sister's education. Irresponsible men should be kicked out of the house.

Though, being irresponsible has no other word than that but it's always a good ideal to analyze problems from grassroot and find solution.
If he's working and still complaining, a review of financial status is highly required by calling all the family together and have a discussion and if he has no work, I think getting one will help....
