Tinubu's Absence at 3rd BRI Infrastructure Forum In China is very costly error ! by worksmart(m): 5:45pm On Oct 26, 2023
Tinubu claims to want to attract foreign investment but chose not to personally attend China's massive Trillion Dollar global Belt and Road Initiative, in China that took place 18th Oct 2023 over 2 or more days; He sent his Vice President instead.

About 150 countries attended and practically all the attending nations were represented by their Head Of State or president.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI, or B&R), known within China as the One Belt One Road (Chinese: 一带一路; pinyin: Yīdài Yīlù) or OBOR/1B1R for short, is a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in more than 150 countries and international organizations.

As of August 2023, 155 countries were listed as having signed up to the BRI. The participating countries include almost 75% of the world's population and account for more than half of the world's GDP.
Nigeria joined the BRI Initiative in 2018 during the tenure of president Muhammudu Buhari.

Imagine the message this is sending to China, that Nigeria is not serious to participate in this most important global infrastructure investment forum of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Even the Minister of Works was not in attendance.

Who did us this for Nigeria? undecided

I am not sure if the minister of transportation was there, though somebody that looks like it may be him could be seen at the bi-lateral meeting with the President Xi Ping.

IF HE GOES, YOU WILL STILL BE THE FIRST TO ACCUSE HIM OF JUNKETING AROUND THE WORLD INSTEAD OF FACING THE NATION’S PROBLEMS.

It is about priorities
Why would Tinubu personally attend the demeaning France-Africa summit that offers us nothing but humiliation and then send his VP without his Works Minister to attend the biggest global infrastructure investment initiative?

How can China see us as a serious nation?

I get this Sha...
Many countries sent their president even Quatar. E reach Nigeria turn e send vp.
Tinubu is clearly showing that he's pro west, and I wonder how China will take that knowing the massive infrastructural investment they are making in nigeria.
Are the west ready to invest? Will they fund our infrastructure deficit? Or at what end is the asslicking just diplomatic talk?

Atleast if you want to lickass, lick with benefits in return

He even attended the useless G20 summit in India which is offering no infrastructure investment for Nigeria.

It is China massive infrastructural investment initiative that he would now sit out and send his VP without even his Minister of Works.

When now Nigerians notice smaller countries like Kenya and Congo are getting chinese investments for mega projects more than us, we would start wondering how that situation came about..

China is the only serious investor with Billions of dollar that Nigeria has a good chance to win.

We were invited to join and we joined the inititative 2018 during the tenure of PMB and we are being afforded the same level of respect as every other participating nation.

Unfortunately our lack of a serious president in the person of Tinubu is hampering us, for we should otherwise have been entitled to the lion's share of massive investment on the African continent given our human and natural resources.

Just by looking at the two sides at the bilateral meeting you can tell the lack of discipline and seriousness in our side compared to the Chinese side.

Just from observation I can see that there was a general laid-back and unfocused attitude to our team and I can see at least 2 people that had no business being part of our team.

G20 summit is where the real leaders meet.

I don't know why obi supporters try to be clever by half .

How did you get the impression that I am an Obi supporter?
I am a Nigeria supporter and really admired Buhari almost as much as I detest Tinubu's corruption and criminality I cannot care less about Obi or Atiku , but at this point , I would gladly welcome either of them to take over from Tinubu's disastrous govt. although I have very little or no expectations that they could perform.

I just realised that Tinubu never even sent our Minister of Trade and Investment. No wonder our delegation were looking lost and clueless at the meeting sad

Projects under China's belt and road initiatives are not free.

They are funded with Chinese loan.

So, you want Nigeria to take on more loans, even as we can barely pay our existing debts?

The Nigerian government needs to look inward for solutions, not jumping on a plane because China says so.

Na China day feed us?

I guess that perhaps realising his mistake Tinubu later sent the Works Minister Umahi a day late to sign MoUs in the Nigerian Embassy in Beijing
