Description:

This expert performs the analysis, builds the models and produces analytical reports. The individual performs the task of selecting, exploring, and modeling data to uncover previously unknown patterns. The DM assists in defining the business problem, by asking specific questions, and proposing a specific DM approach, analyses data for factors that may influence or explain the business problem and defines the target variable for the mining model.

Mines data in cycles using the SEMMA (sample, explore modify, model, assess) methodology. Implements process, by defining models to implement and relevant strategy, provides scored data and production use model. An additional responsibility is to monitor the model for accuracy and robustness and to suggest and implement model retraining strategies.

Competencies:



70% analytical background and 30% business background



Highly experienced statistician, experienced in all types of statistical techniques including decision trees, neural network modeling, cluster analysis and correspondence analysis

Understanding available data

Well versed in decision support queries and data transformation for data mining
