LOCAL BROADCAST JOURNALIST PETERS BUHARI SMASHES GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR LONGEST RADIO PROGRAMME AT HERITAGE RADIO 104.9FM EKET WITH A STAGGERING 150 HOURS.

In a remarkable display of dedication and endurance, Peters Buhari, a broadcast journalist based in the small town of Eket, has shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest radio program by an individual. Broadcasting from the humble studios of Heritage Radio 104.9FM Eket, Buhari surpassed the previous record set by Taishi Masuoka of Japan in 2017, who clocked in at 88 hours.

Buhari's journey began with a lofty goal in mind—to not only match Masuoka's record but to exceed it. With unwavering determination, he embarked on an epic broadcasting marathon, captivating audiences with his engaging content and unwavering commitment to making a difference.

As I wait for Peters Buhari's radio marathon which isn't supposed to last longer than 12 weeks to be certified by Guinness World Records which I'd keep on reminding them, I have seen firsthand how Akwa Ibom State government officials and media outlets treated the Nigerian journalist—as well as how they still don't acknowledge him. Accomplishing this feat would not only place the state on the map of the Guinness World Record, but it would also mean that Peters would be adding his name to the list of Akwa Ibomites who have broken the record.

It is depressing to note that not even Pastor Umo Abasi Eno, the State Governor, and other government representatives recognized and assisted Peters during his amazing accomplishment.

It is regrettable that, while Peter waits for Guinness World Records to recognize this record and provide a certificate, recognition and support have not yet been given where they are due.
