Nursing Schools In Delta State And The Pains Of Aspiring Students by starz100: 11:34am On Apr 12, 2024
Recently,in Delta State the newly admitted nursing students if I may refer to them as such had their exams.Normally, when the students are admitted they're made to cough out school fees amounting to about #200,000 which includes accommodation of six months. They sew uniforms, take lectures for about four months before sitting for this exam that is like post-jamb in the university.
My problem now is that, imagine given the impression that you are now a nursing student, then boom, six months later you are out of the school because you couldn't go through their so called cbt examination that is not even transparent enough. The students get to only see a Pass or Fail status, without a corresponding scores(marks) to show the extent of their performance.According to complaints by numerous students the process of entry into the school of nursing in the state is marred by high level of c@rruption and brib@ry.One of the most painful is paying heavy school fees, sewing uniforms to create impression of studentship, then six months later you are at home with your parents.I am speaking as a concerned parent who has fallen victim of the rubbish going on.
If you know the students can loose their admission, then don't task them school fees, let them not sew uniforms. In the medical school, students who fail the mbss exam are usually given an opportunity to resit such exams.
I call on the ministry in charge of the School of Nursing and the state government to look at the insensitive treatment ongoing. Now, another set of pupils are about to go through this same route while parents who suffered the fr#ud are leaking their wounds in silence.
Please take to front page to create awareness of what people are going through
