It is interesting to read the news that the Honorable Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation has sued all the 36 states because Governors did not give autonomy to the third tier of government.

The only mistake, which I am going to tell our Attorney General, is that some of us are in compliance.

The Attorney General should have done his due diligence to identify which states are not in compliance, so that we don’t sue all the 36 states together.

You can determine which states are not violating the Constitution. If it is three, four or five states are in compliance, then you can sue the 31 states violating autonomy of the Local Governments. That is part of the back work that we need to do.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu

No harmonisation of polices. How will Mainland money be shared with Yaba LCDA, after the fragmentation of everything without any meaningful development. Go to Lagos Island, Campos Square, Agarawu, Princess Street, IsaleAgbede, OjoGiwa, Jankanra to mention a few and see the squalor they have become in the presence of THE BUILDER. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Of course, every single governor would claim his state is in compliance.. even the one that hasn't done a local election in 20 years like Anambra.

The compliance level is the problem.. no state has complied with LG autonomy up to 5%.. Local government is seen as a possession to be possessed and given handouts instead of a tier of government.. this is why our Primary Health Systems suffer, our Primary Schools are almost dead.. local internal roads are in tatter..

They treat SIEC like a State property instead of an Electoral Umpire and write results for them to announce..

the only governor out of 36 that did what looked like a decent SIEC election in the last administration was Governor ElRufai.. he allowed a free and fair run of the local polls and worked with those that emerged even from the opposition parties, and also he gave the chairmen some decent amount of autonomy in the running of the councils. Every other governor just makes a list and hands it to the SIEC to announce... some don't even bother making a list like Anambra and co..

The results of all these shenanigans is visible for all to see today..

Nigerians Governors should be humans for once..

If this administration succeeds in this quest, they should know they have gained one supporter in me..☝🏼

The sued all the states so that those who complied will speak up....
Now if He had asked those who complied to come forward, perhaps all the states would try to do so.

Nigeria is working for only the political class.

Britain conjoined Igbos yorubas and hausas in one country so as to create eternal disunity in Nigeria so that they can continue to steal Nigeria's resources like crude oil through their multinational oil companies.

Dissolve the country called Nigeria and you'll be amazed how fast each region will develop.

Funny dude. The state government he is heading does not have autonomy from Bourdillion, how much less the local governments.

Developmnt in some states has been reduced to an affair of the state capital due to the non autonomy of local government Councils. Go to states like Imo and Rivers to see this.

Sanwo-Olu is definitely deceiving himself. Why can't he go and defend his claims on the Supreme Court.

Local governments in Lagos State have no autonomy. He's playing smart games politics.

When it comes to local government autonomy, I give kudos to Lagos governments. Local governments have been operating independently for years and despite that many state are strongly attached to local governments funds, Lagos state stand firm to allow local governments to remain autonomy. Other states are duly guilty of this.
