This Is What Most Children Are Passing Through Due To Bad Economy. by ibechris(m): 8:47am On May 29 |
I went to the market to get some soup ingredients, on getting to my customer, an elderly woman who sells ewedu, was still sorting the vegetables when I got there. I couldn't wait, so I paid for 2 (200) and told her I will be back to collect it. She usually helps me to pluck the ewedu and I pay her 100 for that, sometimes, I give her more, if I have change. After buying all I wanted from the market, I left, totally forgetting my ewedu with mama. On getting home, and removing things from the bag, I remembered. I looked at the time, too tired to go back, I asked someone outside the shop to help me call anyone she sees hawking ewedu. Much later, someone knocked at the gate. I went to open it. They were two little children, not more than 12yrs of age. The one selling ewedu looked thin and tired. I asked him, if he was okay, he nodded. I finished buying the ewedu, Paid him and about to go inside. My mind nudged me to ask again. And the other boy answered for him. "Talk na" He said in Yoruba. "He is hungry ma." Past 2pm. "You haven't had lunch?" I asked. "No ma, he hasn't eaten today." The second boy replied in Yoruba. Meaning he hasn't even had breakfast, not to talk of lunch. They weren't even in school to begin with. Hmm. I asked him if he would like to take bread and mayonnaise, cos that's what I had. There was stew, but boiling rice will take their time, I thought. He didn't reply. He just stood, looking at his feet and avoiding my eyes. The second boy answered, "yes, he will eat." I went inside and brought some bread spread with mayonnaise for him and his friend. They sat outside the gate and ate. I didn't want to bring them inside, don't know if they will follow me inside. As they ate, I went to the shop close by and collected 2 cold Fanta and gave them. Told the woman I will bring money later. As they ate, the other one told him, "see what you would have missed. You are too quiet." Then the boy replied, "but I will eat when I get home." His friend replied "You ate eba with water last night, how are you sure you won't do same again today. "that sounded like a jab. "Toheeb, stop." He muttered. "You ate eba with water? How? I asked "There was no soup, mamah said pepper is expensive in the market but maybe she will buy today. " My heart tightened. I tried to inhale and exhale to calm my heart. I went inside, took some money and squeezed it into his hand and told him to give it to mamah to make soup. Immediately, he prostrated, thanking me, with his friend. I asked them to go. As they went, he friend kept giving him a friendly jab, "you see why it is good to talk. But looks like this mummy is angel o. Do you think she is Yoruba? She didn't speak Yoruba with us." He kept chatting away as they walked some distance from me. All the while, Ola, never said a world. He must have seen enough life in his little years on earth, to make him take solace in his thoughts. 31 Likes 3 Shares |

Justiceganduje: Stop sounding dumb on my mentions. Your treason case would be reported officially any time from next week. As you know I sabi run mouth anyhow You remember the role you played during UGM madness, The acclaimed end SARS massacre with the Eniola Badmus Photoshop photos you in particular posted first on this forum. The people you recruited through telegram with the backing of one fugitive audio tape to carry out the destructions in Lagos state. Just don't worry 37 Likes 1 Share |

helinues:They sound Iike they are aII Iiving Iarge, few weeks ago I met an engineer who happened to be lgb0, he joined our team for that project newly, telling me his story, this guy has suffèrèd, really suffèrèd, there are lgb0s withdrawing thèîr chiIdren from private to pubIic schools because they can't foot the biIIs, many of them are cIosing shops and resorting to car Washing, okada, frying akara, hawking socks, mosquito and rat medicines, iguedo's goko cleanser, hopping trucks from one "bush market" to another just to sell bread and minerals, pushing detergents in wheelbarrows, selling gala at bus stops etc etc, but they will come online to sound like they are so rich while others are suffèrîñg. 6 Likes 1 Share |

ibechris:That's what you are trying to do, literature just like movies and music are effective means of delivering messages in subtle manner, I studied literature and did alot of poetry before switching to sciences, if you want to talk about the country at large, there are ways to write not profiling a particular ethnic group. There are millions of lgb0 children who will feast on soured meaI today and they will be grateful to God that they even have access to it. If u want to write about the country, dón't do ethnic profiling, if u cañ't write better than this, then something is wróñg with u. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Justiceganduje: 100% affirmative Aje. Have you forgotten what I told you during the acclaimed End SARS, we might let it slide then but those who contributed towards the destructions of Lagos state would be revisited. You case is a treason case. The UGM supporting on this forum, we saw the role you played in bringing chaos and confusion to your own region. Just don't worry. You would understand fully the extent of your activities on this forum when the jungle don eventually matured. Good music is not by loudness 36 Likes 1 Share |

Nice gesture op... I do alms all the time..alms giving elevates the soul.. especially when I see people in opposite gender hustle.. I once gave a man hawking pure water 10k .. he stood looking in disbelief while I drove off.. i made it a point of duty never to haggle wares with elderly people and young ppl and never to collect change no matter the denomination.. these are vulnerable people and they need our input 4 Likes |

mightyhaze:Struck a nerve? Is there any other reason why the story is about Yoruba and it ended with the kids asking if she's Yoruba? She gave them bread and fanta and watched them eat and listen to their conversation while they were walking away and the first question they asked was if they think she's Yoruba? A tribaIistically wired story dón't need explanations to be understood this one is too Iàme, a very Iame attempt. 8 Likes |

mightyhaze:I actually edited my previous comment, you can read it. This post should irritate you. Kids who are hungry and just got fed by a stranger won't put their first question as "do you think she's Yoruba"? She normally buys ewedu from the woman, they know her house to send the ewedu to her but don't know her trîbè? LOL. This post should irritate u if tribaIistics posts irritate u. 6 Likes |

JagabanB:Same tribal nonsense as usual..Well from the post,it says she forgot her vegetables in the mkt,she could not go back cos it's late,so she asked people around to look for people that hawk vegetables in the street, which was seen and directed to her soon . Don't let tribalism block your Senses... As for the kids questions ..I don't know.. little kids ask a lot of questions, esp the chatty ones,I don't want to accuse them of already been fed tribalism by their elders.. 4 Likes 1 Share |
