Actually I have always preferred the first anthem and I have never forgotten it except for the last two lines.

This was the anthem sang in the 70s in our nursery schools and all schools across Nigeria.

But that being said, are our leaders assuring us that;
- this revert will solve all our problems?
- the price of foodstuffs will dive downwards with the old anthem?

- most importantly it will guaranty the stoppage of the LOOTING OF OUR DEAR NATION'S TREASURY?

IF THE ANSWER ABOVE IS YES, THEN BY ALL MEANS LET US START SINGING THE OLD ANTHEM

....BUT IF NO...MAY THE ALMIGHTY GOD JUDGE THEM ALL.

If I say that Oyinbo (white people) are ahead of us in many areas, they'll accuse me of having an inferiority complex. But deep down, they know that Africans, especially Nigerians, have achieved little without the inventions and innovations of white people. Some Yoruba people ( I'm a Yoruba mama) will boast about their rich culture and traditions, but let's be real, what has our culture and tradition done for us? Even they have abandoned their traditional religious practices to adopt those of the white man.

And these same set of folks preach consume locally made products to make the Naira appreciate, when they cannot stick to locally composed national anthem. I pity them all. Animals elected into the seat of power.

If the tinibu's apc govt feel so inferior to be adopting a british inspired national athem why can't they just also invite the british govt to come and reconcilize nigeria all over again cause it's obvious we are not yet matured for independence.

If the president so much love to replace the national anthem; why can't he call for entries for a new one written by Nigerians?

I read things like this and I begin to wonder whether there's something wrong with the brain of the black man on the African continent.

Why should a so called independent country adopt a national anthem written by a foreigner? I wonder why no matter how so called high we may achieve but the brain is still in chains!! Is this the way the black race would remain forever?

The current National Anthem is a post civil war Anthem.
"Call Obey"
"To Serve" which appeared more than once.
"Labour of our heroes past"... Same

The reason why the anthem means nothing to current Nigerians and most people don't care about it being changed or not is because current Nigeria can relate with those sentiments.

That is what he should have be done. Open a national competition for entry.

Going back might be symbolic for their next plan of action.
