You pay a rent of 3m naira p.a., give your wife 8.4m p.a. for family upkeep, excluding school fees and you still use a legedes benz?

The lady in question is not an house wife, she has a thriving business.

And NO, house wives do not contribute more. I will retain this opinion until Jesus comes, I have done both more than 5 years each & I can tell say categorically that taking care of kids is easier than earning a liveable wage in this harsh economy.
Wives that contribute more, should they be above their husbands?

You don't have a wife. What you have is someone using you to cash out. 700k is more than what some men give their wives for a whole year and yet you do that in just a month. Something isn't right.

Your wife may be building somewhere or saving up money to move without you soon. I don't blame her. You are comfortable that's why you can be so wasteful.

Going forward, do not give her anything monthly, rather, let her write down everything she thinks the expense of the month will be. Let her list them down together with thier prices before you give her any money.
Make a visual confirmation of any purchase once it is done.

You need to put your wife on a leash else she may be your ruin. That you can afford things easily now doesn't mean that will always be the case and then you will see the true color of this woman.

Make it a round figure of one million naira monthly, so she would be happier.

By the way, should you become incapacitated (which is a possibility in life) and no longer able to earn.....reflect, on your wife's capacity to sustain the present lifestyle, when you can't earn.

See another wisdom.

Any woman complaining that ₦700k monthly is too small is something else.

You go on foot while she drives the family car.

To me, an understanding wife would have covered up the difference or manage whatever is given to her.

Wives that contribute more, should they be above their husbands?

Yvonne Jegede who contributed more in her one year of marriage said she was tired of doing that, and she was above her husband in that regard. So the answer is Yes.

I'm sure you saw the viral post on social media.

You need to let your wife know that she also has to start contributing to the house as well to makeup what you are bringing in.

Hello people,
Please I need some advice.
We live in PH, and have 4 kids. The oldest is 10 while the youngest is 6. I give my wife 700k every month, and this includes general upkeep and maintenace and fuelling of our car (Lexus 330). I don't drive the car (I dey leg, while she uses it to run around, which includes school runs and her business).

I no dey chuk eye for her business. Bu I am getting frustrated as she still makes me believe that the money is not enough. I pay electricity bill (band A) and house rent (3m pa) yet every now and then she puts bills on my head. It is driving me crazy.

When I tell her to list out her expenses so I plan with her, she picks offence. I am really tired of the whole thing and don't know how else to approach the issue without causing too much problem. I know some men whose salaries are 250k-300k in PH, yet they are surviving.

That is why a little drama is good for all relationships. Your wife wants drama and you just want smooth sailing. It won't work!
Second, fuel too no get subsidy.
E dey quickly evaporate as Tinubu remove subsidy. Lols

When you are serious, you will reduce the money to 100k and stop giving a fvck about how she picks offense.

The only problem is that you have already let her know you are understanding. Me, I know women offense picking is deceit, I no dey understand at all.

But try find a way to reverse the situation. Else, you just put yourself for life prison.

She is working, let her be responsible. Else, stay home as a full time house wife and receive proper control.

Increase it to 1.5m since you don't know that the money you are giving her is far more than enough

Yet to see the benefits. Look at the expenses. What do you use your money for yourself?

P.S. That is the first mistake. Plenty children.

Good luck to those involved.

In marriage, all partners are equal. Repeat, all partners are equal.
Also, it's "our" house not "my" house.
You will start enjoying your marriage the moment you start using this mindset. Your wife will literally do anything to make your life easier.

No be only all partners are equal. The very reason the west is in the edge of moral destruction.

Women that are confused and re-confused in all ramifications by default.

All partners are equal, and she has a business. Making money, yet can’t contribute to the household.

How is that even partnership?

Has the 700k stayed constant pre/post devaluation?

If yes, her point is valid as prices have adjusted in line with devaluation hence the constant struggle to balance the budget

If No, be transparent with madam with respect to your income so as to enable her manage the budget accordingly
