Hark, young minds, to a lesson bold,
Of ancient times and a god of old.
In old Gaza, we find our scene,
A tale of favor, and what it could mean.

In a tale of old, where battles raged,
Thirteen thousand kids and more the history's page,
Unalived in strife, for a nation's caprice,
A prelude to our story, on favor's decease.

In a realm where stars align,
A god did rule, his light divine,
His favor shone on just a few,
The rest, in shadows, awoke and shrew.

He'd gaze upon his chosen kin,
"More blessings!" he'd command with a grin,
Unseen were the many in need,
For whom his heart did not bleed.

The chosen basked in golden rays,
While others lived in muted grays,
For every gift he'd carelessly throw,
A silent many reaped the woe.

The fable here, a cautionary tale,
Of a god whose fairness did fail.
For what triumph lies in favor's game,
When innocence bears the cost of shame?

So let this lesson from the past,
In young hearts and minds forever last. That a god did live but died, by the wrong choice of a waring side.
