As Nigeria continues to grapple with inflation and other economic challenges, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah resolved with indigenes of Anambra residing in the United States to intensify their investments in their home state.

Urging them not to be discouraged by the insecurity situation, the Anambra South Lawmaker told the state's diasporans that the ugly trend would soon become a thing of the past.

Ubah stated this in New York on Saturday at the 2024 Anambra Day event organized by the Anambra State Organization ,ASO held at Marriott Hotel.

Chairing the event were Ossy Okeke, chairman of Anambra State Organization, others included Nze Malachy Okoro, Chief Ifeanyi Anyene and Dr. Mrs Josephine Aguoji.

During the programme Anambrarians living in the city pledged their commitment to support the economic development of Anambra State and to substantial Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) to their state.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Petroleum (Downstream) who graced the occasion called for the observation of a minute of silence in honour of Vigilante personnel and those recently killed by Gunmen in Nnewi and Nnobi.


In supporting their cause Ubah further donated 15 Million To support the building Of "Obi Anambra '' in New York and 5 Million Naira in support of women ASA Women wing making a total of 20 million naira.

The event brought together Anambrarians residing in the city to celebrate their rich culture and heritage.

Speaking at the event, Senator Ubah emphasized the importance of unity and communal love among Anambrarians both in New York and back home in Anambra State, Nigeria.

He highlighted some of his initiatives aimed at promoting businesses in his Senatorial District, such as the 'Secure South Project', which is designed to strengthen security and create a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.

He commended ASO;

"Let me wholeheartedly commend your efforts to acquire a property to serve as "Obi Anambra," promoting Anambra culture and heritage in New York.

"Your organisation has provided a platform for ndị Anambra to come together and celebrate their roots and I urge everyone to support the organization and participate in their future events and initiatives.

"New York City is home to several international organisations like UN UNICEF, UNDP and so on and it is befitting for Ndi Anambra to have a secretariat that will serve as a rallying point for our people resident in the city".

President of the Organisation, Hon Ossy Okeke expressed his gratitude to the Senator for his exemplary leadership in guiding the people of Anambra South from the front.

Okeke expressed optimism that Ubah has the capacity to improve the socio-economic welfare of the entire Anambrarians if given the opportunity.

Okeke conveyed to Ubah the resolve of the diasporans to increase their investments in Anambra adding that the group were encouraged by Ubah's plans to develop the state.

"We see your good works in your Senatorial Districts and we are indeed pleased and proud of you, we pray that God will continue to strengthen you. On our part we will continue to invest in Anambra because it is our home", Okeke remarked.

A highlight of the event is how the senator recalled with Nostalgia how he donated Ten Thousand Dollars several years ago to support the building of Anambra House in Boston, which today is providing essential services and serving as a rallying point for Ndi Anambra in Boston.

The event was reported to have a resounding success featuring traditional music, dance, and food varieties that showcase the rich cultural heritage of Anambra State.
