Divine Wisdom

TEXT: MARK 11:27-33

" . . . And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things" (Mark 11:33b).

A legend had it that Queen of Sheba sent two wreaths of roses to King Solomon, one real and the other artificial.  To test his reputed wisdom, she left him to detect the genuine from the artificial.  King Solomon at once directed that some bees be brought into the room.  Immediately, they flew to the real flowers and ignored the counterfeit.  That was divine wisdom!
   
"The wiser than Solomon" and the incarnate wisdom of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, demonstrated to the believers how to handle antagonists and perennial critics.  Few days earlier, Jesus Christ had cleansed the temple by overthrowing the tables and seats of the traders and moneychangers, noting the desecration the practices had brought upon the temple instead of the prayer house it was intended for.
   
The patrons and the principals of the traders and merchants, hiding under the canopy of religious indignation, and as members of the Sanhedrin came to deal with this "unauthorized, self appointed meddler and impostor".  They asked him, " . . . by what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?"  Instead of giving a straight forward answer, knowing full well that these biased religious bigots will never be satisfied with whatever answer He gave, He countered with his own question.
   
"The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?"  The antagonists were caught in their own web of hypocrisy with such a poser from our Lord.  This is divine wisdom!  To be victorious and successful in a complex world like ours, we need divine wisdom.  If you don’t have this wisdom, ask the Lord today and He will surely give you.
