nairaman66: None of the carriers you mentioned operate in Canada. Since 2017, it is illegal to lock any phone in Canada. If you want to buy unlock phones, buy used from Canada. |

Don't mind those guys at computer village, they'll be charging for a service that, with proper research, can be done for little or no money . My phone worked right out the box but I've had phones that didn't work. I had an iPhone 6 that didn't work back then, I went online, searched and bought an unlock code for $1.50 and it worked after everything was done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s32SqDIqgM?si=gwhL4VV4OFGPJvJD Watch this video on youtube and see if it helps Growingboi: 2 Likes |

nairaman66: Don't get me wrong bro. Phone unlock services are still available in the US on sites like ebay and Craigslist and several other sites. Some folks will even unlock your phone for you remotely. The price in USD compared to the price to do same in Nigeria is much higher. To switch to a new carrier in the US is very simple, take your old phone back and get a newer one if your credit is right and make installmental payments on the newer phone. I know what I'm talking about bro. I can't even remember how many phones I've shipped or taken to Nigeria. I just know I prefer for all these phones to be unlocked in Nigeria than getting them unlocked here in the US by someone that will charge way more than it's done in Nigeria. |

digitaccountant: Nigeria is a zoo and not in touch with the rest of the world. They have left una behind. Take that phone to network providers see if they can put the phone into a zoo mode (unlock) 😆🤣 |

Kayberg: You don't understand what he's saying. He will pay to unlock it, money must be involved, nobody can unlock it for free. The money is even in dollar, ie if you want to do it yourself |

digitaccountant: If that is the exact phone, I'll tell you how to unlock it yourself. Someone said, and I quote he took his to Computer Village and was charged ₦130,000.00k for it. But don't stress, I'll tell you how to unlock it yourself right there in your room for very much negotiable amount. PM me. Growingboi: |

Re: How Can I Get My US Imported Phone To Work With Nigerian Sim Card ? by AnyanwuSK: 9:00am On Aug 16 |
Kayberg: There's no how you will beat the carrier, you have to first of all pay them their money or balance before you can use their phone which they purchased with their money and locked it. Your issue is different |

Re: How Can I Get My US Imported Phone To Work With Nigerian Sim Card ? by AnyanwuSK: 9:38am On Aug 16 |
Kayberg: If you do that, it might be a prove if I confirm you're right. I will want to know how rational it is. A carrier will pay phone manufacturers to lock their phone to their network, then you will open it free of charge without paying the carrier their money or balance. I want to know, I curious, let me know |

You may be able to unlock it online buy buying an unlock code. Most network locked phones require this to use the phone on other networks. Google phone unlocked, may require you to enter the Imei number and you pay and receive the unlock code... Or just go to computer village |

AnyanwuSK: I won't fall for your tempting. People out there eat your money, charge you high prices because they can feed on your ignorance...Yes! Before I hand out anything to anyone to do or fix for me, you should know it's because I could not find my way around it. Who told you it was locked to a specific network and it can not be undone? Some of these phones you thought are locked to a region are not locked! I am an Electronic Technician and an Engineer, if you know what both means. I told you I told how to go about it to some neighbors, whose dad sent them phones from the US, but they've been selling it because these phones do not pick network in Nigeria. I sent them what to do via screenshots and they did it in a few easy steps. Now they're free from the shackles of overcharging phone technicians who would make you look like your phone problem is so difficult to fix. And the funniest is the said phone is an Android device! Please, save me this stress… |

As someone who imports phone from overseas I can say it's that the phone is network locked, what must be noted is there are variety of networks thar could be attributed to the phone Such as Verizon, at&t |

Kayberg: At the bolded. I don't know if you purposely made unclear statement their. I never said a phone locked for a particular carrier can't be undone, I only said you have to refund the carrier before you can have your phone unlocked. Like I said before, If you are talking of different issue then you mau be right. I'm talking of a specific issue here. |
Re: How Can I Get My US Imported Phone To Work With Nigerian Sim Card ? by Kayberg: 6:28am On Aug 17 |
AnyanwuSK: Stop stressing me. Everything is programming! But for the OP's device, it was regional programmed, not network locked. Meaning it won't pick any network not known to operate within the US region. |
