Ahead of the September 21 Edo State governorship election, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said he wouldn’t support Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Wike stated this on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He also pledged not to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who is being backed by the outgoing Edo State Governor.

The FCT Minister also described the governor as an ingrate.

“I told them when they came to me that I am not going to support you, neither am I going to support anybody. The one I supported, it never helped anything. Rather I was insulted.

“I supported him the last time, what happened? I became a stupid man,” Wike said.

When asked if he would support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, Wike said he is not a member of the party.

Mole in PDP?
During the show, the FCT Minister said no PDP member can call him an outsider or as a mole engaging in anti-party activities.

He dared party chieftains, governors and members of the party to go on national television to defend the allegation that he worked against the party in any way.

“There is nobody, no governor today in PDP, not anybody born of a woman can say I am an outsider. I dare anybody in the PDP to come out on national television. I dare any governor, I dare any National Working Committee member, to come out on national television to say I am a mole,” he said.

Wike stated that President Bola Tinubu had written to his party both at the ward and the national levels, before he accepted his appointment as the FCT Minister in the current administration as he had never hidden his motives for whatever he did.

“Before I took this appointment, I wrote to PDP. I wrote to PDP National; I wrote to PDP Zonal; I wrote to PDP in my state. My governor also signed a letter, that I should take the appointment. Yes, it’s true. The zonal party wrote that I should accept. Who in the PDP did not write or nominate names by President Tinubu for appointment?

“They did. Yes! Let them come to say they did not do it. You see the problem we have in this country is that some people think they are too smart, they want to use people; I’m not that kind of person. What I want to do, I will do; what I will not do, everybody knows I won’t do it”, Wike stated.

Yes you assisted him to clinch the PDP Governorship ticket when Oshiomhole forced him out of APC but it was the Edo people that voted for him in protest to Oshiomhole's high handedness and not you. After election, you started controlling him like a toy telling him who to appoint to his cabinet and who not to appoint same way you did to Fubara and the man said no. You cant be Governor of Rivers State and Governor of Edo state at the same time just as you are trying to be both FCT minister and Rivers State Governor.

Logically speaking Wike has every right not to support Obaseki.
We can all remember how Wike fought Oshiomole for the emmergence of Obaseki.
Obaseki paid about N3bn to be given the PDP structure in Edo state same way Ortom paid N2bn for the same thing in Benue.
After that transaction and election Obaseki turned his back.
He betrayed Oshiomole and also betrayed Wike.
During the last election Wike had to apologize to Oshiomole.
Obaseki is known for disloyalty and Asue should actually be careful with him…

We all remember that Obaseki fought Oshiomole with the idea of ending Godfatherism. His fight and struggle to install a governor is what exactly.

In today's PDP, there are two sides, Wike's side and Atiku side. Under Wike, there is PDP's real structure. Under Atiku, there is enough dollar to get anything done. If Wike and Atiku did not come to agree by 2027, Tinubu would be automatically a second term president regardless of who Atiku's running mate is, that is if they are all alive.
