Kebbi Governor Approves ₦‎75,000 Minimum Wage, Orders Payment Within 72 Hours by ManirBK: 11:14pm On Oct 23

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Wednesday approved 75,000 naira as a new minimum wage for the state civil servants.

Confirming the development, the chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress in the state, Murtala Usman, stated this while speaking with our correspondents.

“Mr Governor has shown that he is with the workers in the state. We proposed three tables for him.
We proposed 72,000, 73,000, and 75,000 naira and he decided to go for the 75,000 naira, which shows he is for the workers.

“To crown it all, he also said the payment starts this month of October, salaries which he categorically said should be made available to workers in the next 72 hours,” he added.

Alex Otti doesn't need reasonable excuse.

All that is needed is to simply tell his people that Tinubu is the reason he keeps paying 18k minimum wage. Gbam, his people will start singing his praises and insulting other Nigerans.

This is now becoming a challenge among the governors.

It's like they are trying to outdo one another in terms of workers welfare.

Any governor who have no intention to pay above 70k will not feel comfortable any more.

This is commendable

All these emphasis on salaries, naira etc is rubbish. It's just adding extra zeros. Fix elecricity, fix security, make our health care facility and services accessible. Leave the rest to Nigerians, we are willing to work for free for the government self.

But lots of these governors did complain they couldn't pay the current 35k minimum wage how come they are even going above the federal government approved rate, so it means state workers would earn more than federal workers, or what's the federal government paying since the minimum is 70k

Outgoing governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state started this revolution of increasing the minimum wage in Nigeria.

Infact, when Obaseki took this bold steps his fellow governors were quite hesitant about agreeing to increasing the minimum wage of their workers.

OBASEKI EMBARRASSED GOVERNOR SANWO OLU OF LAGOS STATE BY AGREEING TO PAY N70,000 to workers in Edo state.

That embarrassing posture shamed many governors to cross examine their conscious and many of the governor are now high salaries compliant now.

I swear.its now a challenge and commendable
Imagine kebbi firing straight from 18k minimum wage down to 75k .the last administration never paid 30k minimum wage to the best of my knowledge.

If Kebbi can pay 75k, Tinubu who gets almost 55% of the Federation's revenue has no excuse paying just 70k, how about that?

Soludo is busy chasing Local government fund in Anambra. While other governor's are doing a challenge of who pays highest minimum wage a Professor of economics is planning to add 40k across board

what is this one saying, Obaseki embarrassed Sanwo Olu? Are they in competition? Agboyi -ketu local govt chairman performed more than Obaseki in his 8 years in Edo State you are here comparing night and day. Obaseki thought he could used the salary gesture to win the hearts of the people but a failure is a failure. So go and rest will your Obaseki.
