Good morning nairalanders. I I am here to tell you a fact as against what the mainstream Media would want you to know or think. Morning breakfast is the most ineffective meal of the day. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was a marketing technique developed by Nestle, Kellogg, and General Mills to promote its cereals such as Weetabix, Oats, and bread. Edward Louis Bernays, known as the "Father of Propaganda," is responsible for some of these marketing fallacies designed to push harmful food items at the expense of people's health. At around 3 to 5 a.m., the body produces a string of hormones known as counter-regulatory hormones. These hormones are - Cortisol. - Glucagon - Growth hormone. - Adrenaline In the morning, these hormones cause blood sugar levels to rise. We refer to this as the dawn phenomena. The growing blood glucose level prepares you for the day. While growth hormone gets your muscles ready for the day, adrenaline gets your mind ready for the morning. This rising blood glucose will remain till a few minutes after midday when it begins dropping. If it drops, the body will now use another mechanism to mobilize more glucose from muscle tissues and the liver, and this includes converting fats in the liver into glucose. Therefore, you don't have to eat in the morning. It is pointless. The body is NOT stupid. Do you know why it's recommended that people with diabetes check their blood sugar levels first thing in the morning before taking their medications? Now you do. Instead of bread and tea, pap and those yeye meal for breakfast. Eat boiled eggs and sliced cucumbers, cucumbers and groundnuts or any nuts. |

saviourGeorge: In as much as you are above listed options are good, the body does not need it in the morning. One is supposed to have or take his/her first meal of the day between probably the hours of 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. last meal should be between 6pm and 8pm. |

Sometimes you wake up feeling very hungry. What are you supposed to do if you feel that way? |

We4all: There's something called mental hunger. A person who sometimes wakes up feeling hungry can also go up to 1 - 3:00 p.m. without having the hunger feeling if engaged in something important. Like a job, research, domestic chores etc. If you wake up in the morning feeling hungry, just get a cup of water and drink. 2 Likes |
