As much as I don't have issue with improving IGR but how effectively have we addressed the leakages in the collection processes and in holding the government particularly the state and local government/LCDA accountable in the judicious utilisation of the funds? It is outright evil to continually tax the already impoverished populace to fund the flamboyant and wasteful lifestyle of politicians and civil servants. Goto Oshodi, Abakpa, Lafenwa, Ogbuete, Igbudu , Mararaba, Headbridge among others and see what some traders sells, items less than 10k in total and these sets of people are still forced to pay an average of N500 - N1000 per day in the name of IGR. Note: I am not againt improved IGR but it should not cost the blood of the people particularly the already impoverished ones. 58 Likes 1 Share |

The report added that in the 2023 fiscal year, the combined revenue of all 36 states in Nigeria increased significantly by 31.2 percent from N6.6 trillion in 2022 to N8.66t trillion. This is progress. Apparently statistically and from an Economy POV, we are actually moving forward As per the main subject, There are just 6 economically viable states in Nigeria...Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Anambra, Edo and Kaduna States in other regions should be merged together to form one Useless Govs everywhere 21 Likes 2 Shares |

All this is just analysis paralysis! You see sates blessed with an abundance of hydrocarbons, yet are being denied control and use of same by a greedy, grasping, all-controlling and despotic unitary central gov’t! Yet some still have the temerity to accuse them of being ‘unviable’!? Had states like Bayelsa or Imo been independent countries in their own right, does anyone think they wouldn’t have the capacity to pay their workers and embark on provision of infrastructure!? We like being deceptive in Nigeria! 17 Likes 1 Share |

Okay, noted That means Fubara the ingrate doesn't even need allocation from FAAC and CBN. He can tax the hell out of Rivers people to help run his government of illegality. Before you quote CNN and ICC on my mention, kindly explain which democratic country permits a governor to present budget to only 4 out of 30 members of a state house of assembly 9 Likes 3 Shares |

The North should remember the bandits and terrorists their leaders created. The Poor governance, out of school children, almajiri system, religious radicalisation, enslavement, and subjugation of the poor by ruling class. The children they refused to train and educate years ago are the ones blowing up transmission towers. The ones they refuse to educate today will do the same in another 10 years. They should go and read how ISIS targeted energy infrastructure in Libya and the consequences. They should stop blackmailing the country and get to work. This format ended with GEJ. No one has denied the North any statutory financial allocation due to it. 80% of our military installations are in the North, 80% of our military budget is spent on the North, the North has development commisions. They have the schools, the universities etc. For once in their lifetime, they should look inwards and stop blaming the country. 2 Likes 1 Share |

BudgIT, a civic tech organisation, has said that only Lagos and Rivers states can take care of their operating costs without relying on revenue from the Federation Account Allocation Committee. The report stated that Ogun, Anambra, Cross River, Kwara, Kaduna, and Edo states can generate Internally Generated Revenue, IGR sufficient to cover at least 50 percent of their operating costs. Mehn.. this is one of the reasons it will be so tough to go back to regionalism. Some regions are completely nothing to write home about. These are the main parasitic entities.. 49 Likes |

Lagos is like a country on it's own just like USA.. A no man's land collectively owned by all and would be shared accordingly when the time comes. Then Rivers is an Oil wealthy state. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Rubbish analysis. Is the federal allocation not derived from resources from the states. You should rather look at states that don't contribute anything to the centre in terms of taxes and natural resources. How can you say delta state cannot survive without faac when almost 15% of that faac revenue is derived from delta state. Even the investments moving into lagos state are as a result of the huge oil revenue in Nigeria 9 Likes 3 Shares |

Mrfeel: Exactly That is why we are asking for true restructing. Let the states be in charge of their resources and give a fraction to the federal. We need stronger and more economical viable states and not yeye states created by the Military for their friends |

You collect my money and give me back less than 20% of the amount you collected, then you turn around and say i can not survive without that income? Can the federal government survive without oil income and allocations? Is it not my oil money that you are sharing in the first place? If i collected my oil revenue by myself, and pay you a little tax, it is you the federal government that will be worrying about revenue shortfalls. States like Deltas, Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, can all survive because they have oil and gas. That very resource is being stolen by the federal government and shared to far away entities. 7 Likes 1 Share |
