Look who's talking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does he know the implications of the policies GEJ is proposing? Or he is just following the outdated "no change" policy of the labor groups. Many times the NLC is right in opposing government policy, but more than often it is for the wrong reasons.

What Nigeria needs is not just somebody opposing A,B & C, but also saying these are options D, E & F that are much better, and why.

I hope people stop deceiving themselves about Buhari making a better president - even with the obvious weaknesses of GEJ in confronting BH I make bold to say that Buhari would still be a worse president than both of them.

Ribadu would have combined both the military-like mind of Buhari, with the exposure of GEJ, plus youth and a "cleaner" hand to take on what hails this nation.

Nigerian youths would not forgive themselves if they let the likes of OBJ play them once again during the 2015 elections. Let the Buharis, IBBs, OBJs, Atikus, and the like go and sit in one corner.

The Nigerian Labour Congress on Thursday lambasted President Goodluck Jonathan, describing him as a "dull leader" who lacks the capacity to govern a complex country such as Nigeria.

Speaking in Abuja at the launch of a book ‘Time to reclaim Nigeria’ written by activisit Chido Onumah, the organisation's Assistant General Secretary, Denja Yaqub, said Mr. Jonathan was not deep enough to understand the implication of some policies he is trying to foist on Nigerians.

Mr. Yaqub, who represented the NLC's Acting General Secretary, Owei Lakemfa at the event, also said labour was ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that government’s decision to remove subsidy on petroleum products does not see the light of the day.

“President Jonathan was voted into power by Nigerians, but we have lost him to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and such other bodies," he said. "The fight for fuel subsidy removal has been on since 1986 and many people have lost their lives in this struggle, we will never waver."

He also accused the president of lacking adequate knowledge on the subsidy matter based on his response on the issue at the National Assembly, wondering why he is determined to go ahead with the policy.

“President Jonathan has failed woefully and he does not even understand the subsidy issue as he cannot give an intelligent answer on it at the National Assembly. I am glad Nigerians have already started mobilizing themselves to hit the streets and protest without waiting for labour,” he said.

Speaking along the same line, national secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Buba Galadima, argued that rather than talk about subsidy, what the president needs to bother about is the regime of incompetence and corruption pervading government at all levels.

“How will the removal of the so-called subsidy translate to transformation? Nigerians are angry over this decision and the only ones that are not angry are the ones benefiting from the system,” Mr. Galadima said

The CPC leader further accused the president of taking the issue of fuel subsidy removal too personal.

” If the president truly believes that sovereignty lies with the people, he should know that he is holding the office in trust for them."

The event, described by the compere as “the gathering of trouble makers” had as chief host Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, the presidential candidate of the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria in the 2011 election while Hussaini Abdu, Actionaid's country director, was guest lecturer.

In his paper, Mr. Abdu also condemned the decision to remove subsidy while at the same time making life unbearable for citizens by raising electricity tariff, reinstating toll gates, and retrenching workers.

He noted that the title of the book could not have come at a better time than now because the country had been hijacked by five groups of people he listed to include, “corrupt and rapacious politicians, imperial technocrats, international financial institutions, multinational corporations and parasitic business class.”

On his part, Mr. Ribadu said he was he aligning himself with the position of his party, the ACN, which had issued a terse statement condemning the government for trying to cut the subsidy on fuel.

Some speakers at the event spoke on the widespread insecurity in the country. They were however of the view that allocating the lion’s share of the 2012 budget to security is not the solution but good governance.

"In a country in which people are struggling to get the next meal, and one person will steal over N500billion and go scot-free, no amount of money voted for security will guarantee peace other than social justice,” Mr. Galadima said.

Some of those who attended the event were Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who was represented by Idiat Babalola; a fomer presidential aide, Uba Sani; S.Oronsanye, who represented the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities; a chieftain of the the Congress for Progressive Change Farouk Adamu Aliyu; and Abdullahi Ribadu, former vice chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Yola.

Your statements are just too illogical. So Buhari/Ribadu would have been worse just because YOU think so. Their antecdents/experience don't matter? Now that's a new one.

Your dumbo president failed as a gov but in your eyes he's the best president Nigeria ever had. Hmmmnnn!

That was too harsh. In essence they were indirectly insulting the over 20 million Nigerians that voted for PDP for failing to realize that their candidate was what they (NLC) think he is.

GEJ is clearly not at home with many of the knotty issues bothering Nigeria. But he can still pick up, if he surrounds himself with the right people.

Many of us here would not perform better. The hot seat is really hot, and I found this out first hand when I was in the SUG govt in my school. We were faced with a water crisis in a particular year, and I had to come up with a solution that fellow students found very distasteful; how I was not mobbed the day of the congress when I gave my solution is still a miracle.

However, we were able to pull through and the crisis was solved. I lost many friends but hey, I was in office to fulfil a mission and I did.

I agree that we should not be paying so much money in subsidy to fuel importers, but the way the government wants to deal with the problem is not the right way.

We need community based refineries as well as a radical plan to start developing alternative energy fuels for our vehicles in 3 years. This can be done. For instance, I do not see why my local government cannot build a refinery to serve those in my local government. A company in Rivers State has already built a refinery to produce 120,000 litres for its own needs (which is just one-third of that production capacity) and is ready to sell the balance to those who need it.

This refinery business is not so complicated. I had demonstrated the fractionation of crude oil in my school's Chemistry laboratory as far back as 1991. I do not really understand why we cannot even develop our own indigenous technology to refine crude. Illegal refining is going on in the Niger Delta. Can we not get some of the ex-militants as part of an agency that will be charged with developing this crude technology further? Many of these militants are graduates and such an agency can be beefed up with specialists in the field.

This is one of the things ASUU has been agitating for: increased funding for research. Why for example would Nigeria be spending more money on buying military hardware than on research and development?

The question is: can GEJ disappoint his campaign funders and serve the people who voted him? Dilemma for GEJ to work out!

Yes. Badluck Ebele Jonathan is a dull man. Have you ever come across any of the students he taught? Remember he worked in OMPADEC where Ruth Benemisia's husband stole money and was never caught. I think we should investigate his activities then. Nigerians are sleeping in fuel ques when subsidy as not been removed. He wants to use this as a means to justify further corruption.

My prayer is that if he spoils our xmas and new year celebrations, BIKO HARAM will be his reward. Cos he has enough audited defence budget in his coffers now. BIKO HARAM will help him spend utilized that money.

A snail is faster and more active than Jonathan. A snail can crawl past a particular area, sector in a very short time. Ever since the emergence of Jonathan, nothing has worked out. He owns the sluggish tendency of a snail _what sector has he made positive impact? None! Always smiling and waving at his web of ignorance. I am not belittling him but the truth stands supreme and is bitter. When Turai Yar'adua was ironicaly acting for late Umaru, Nigeria was better. Hence the demerit of doctrine of necessity.

GEJ does not know who he his. The most powerful Balck President on the continent of Africa. He need more than a Phd to rule a Nation. He need a dose of Nicholo Machaveli to rule. Though he was financed to government by the cabal behind the problem of Nigeria the oil majors. He should destroy them like Machaveli advised he should turn himself to the main principality. It is only GEJ that still go ahead to assign oil Block to his opponent to make more money and have more source of money  to oppose him and finance Boko Haram.

They even staged a coup while he was in the office by commanding a battalion without his knowledge to guide our former president President from Saudi Arabia Back to Aso Rock and nobody was apprehended and charged for high treason. Me think the hawk have hijacked the presidency and where ever they can make more money are suggested for the president as a new policy. PHCN people have suggested increase in tarrif on an epileptic service and he agreed. Instead of him telling them to distribute digital meter free of charge for everybody. You hardly get that in NEPA office they have hid it and refused to clear the ones in Lagos Port because it reduce their source of income.

The politician see Toll collection as a veritable source of collecting free money on terrible roads and he agreed despite pulling them down by Obasanjo to get at some anti third term fellow then. Now the oil major who are feeding fat on non performing refinery are bent on selling petrol like Diesel and kerosene to make more money. At times i weep for this nation. We cant make ordinary pencil, we cant plant rice, we cant make cloth. We import everything, our refinery are not working what kind of nation is this?

If GEJ continue like this PDP does not have any magic in 2015 they must go by fire by force by God grace and I pray opposition will start putting their house in other from now. But before 2015 unto the hand of God I comit my spirit

Nigeria has never had a leader. We have only had lucky individuals that the power position gives authority. Their Intellects are never challenged before office assumption and we always find out later to have elected office-misfits. The VP debate actually brought this to the fore but we still went on and selected PDP.

Re: Do You Agree With NLC That Jonathan Is Too Dull For Nigeria? by inyarr: 1:28pm On Dec 16, 2011
Lets think right. if other pple like ibb, abacha etc were rude to nigerians, GEJ has no reason for being like them. pple sacrifice their lives for him even young graduates. who knows one of them would have become a smarter president in the future and not a dullard.

He said he was not a general nor a lion. does dat mean he can't face the corrupt leaders? and dats why he is turning to fight the weak poor masses. God! help us. GEJ go after IBB, Abdulsalam, OBJ, Bankole, Bayero, Hassan Lawal, El-rufai, Charles Soludo, and host of others, and collect our money from them and finance our budget. I believ if u do that, for next fifteen years we will be financing our budgets without using oil money again. nigeria need a general in heart like David. He was not an army officer but he fought Goliath.

Jonathan, David was your friend. u can do it. pls, don't inflict pains on the masses i take God beg u.

I laugh in "fuel subsidy removal"!!!

Riddle! Riddle!!Riiiiddduuuuullllleee!!!
Q:why does president jonathan always wear a black calabash on his head.
A:because an empty bottle/pot looks terrible without its cover.

Q:how do you make a certain 3 year old dull
"JONATHAN" grow up 2 be a smart and decisive leader
in future.
Ans: buy him a dozen shoes, teach him to wear real hats and not black calabashes, conduct a groin surgery and fix him a new pair of STEEL BALLS!, maybe throw in a heart surgery and replace the chicken organ with a real male heart!!.

Q: how do you put some shine in the eyes of GEJ,in the midst of all his current troubles.

A: simple!! Just flash a torch light through his ears!!

Q: why did GEJ die of suffocation in his barbing saloon?
A: he was listening to a song that goes "breathe in,breathe out"breathe in,breathe out" on his discman and his batteries died off.

Q how many GEJ's would it take to screw in a light bulb in aso rock villa?
A:10 of dem!!!
Q how they gonna manage that?
A:1 GEJ to hold the light bulb in place, and the remaining 9 GEJ's will try to spin aso rock around till the light bulb is in place.

Q;why didn't GEJ fall off his balcony in aso rock villa?
A:heck! He ddnt know the directions!!

The NLC are just a bunch of mouthy wimps with no grey matter and very much lacking in the ability to understand let alone think and act positively.

As rightly mentioned by

Not to mention this. Why haven't they mounted their GUNS to challenge the LegislativeS on how and why they collect the super bumper Allowance and salaries that can not be justified ?

Why have they not taken action to Deal with the menace of corruption in the Oil & Gas Sector, Power Sector, Our Ports ?( All these key contributing factors to High cost of the living ) ?

Why haven't they called for the heads of corruption in Civil Service ?

And on all these nonsense they can't even manage to get a minimum wage implemented.

Crappy silly mouthy wimps who woule lead millions to slaughter only to slip off to stand watch !!
