Folie À Deux by Jahlivesforever: 1:47pm On Nov 09, 2024 |
Folie à Deux My little daughter, Amaka, had just turned four, and almost overnight, her behavior shifted in ways that were both extraordinary and unsettling. It began with a troubling regression—she started wetting herself again, a habit she’d long outgrown. Visits to the doctor offered little clarity, and despite various treatments, her condition only worsened. My husband and I were baffled, caught between concern and frustration. One night, after a particularly long and rainy evening, we returned late from our usual block rosary session at the Thirteenth Congress, an annual devotion we held sacred. That night, July 13th, something miraculous happened—Amaka was completely healed of her nighttime accidents. I remember it vividly, her little face gleaming with relief as she hugged me. But just when we thought things were settling, they took a strange and unexpected turn. A week after her healing, Amaka began experiencing visions. It started subtly—she would sit quietly, talking to someone invisible. Over time, it became clear that these “beings” weren’t figments of her imagination. Amaka would tell us that she was speaking to none other than the Virgin Mary and angels, beings who offered her insights beyond a child’s understanding. One night, she came to me, eyes wide with certainty, and told me that Donald Trump would win the election. Another time, she predicted storms and floods, natural events that unfolded just as she had described. These visions became a regular part of our lives. At first, my husband and I were deeply unsettled, but I couldn’t ignore the uncanny accuracy of her predictions. As a forex trader, I was familiar with the volatility of the markets, relying heavily on high-impact news releases like NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls) and inflation forecasts. Desperate and intrigued, we decided to ask Amaka to share her insights into these market events. To our astonishment, her predictions were flawless. The NFP numbers, inflation trends, even obscure economic movements—all came to pass as she foresaw. Within a few months, we had cleared our debts, and for the first time, we were financially stable. Yet, just as suddenly as they’d begun, the visions ceased. It was as if a door had closed, and Amaka returned to her normal, lively self. Curious and concerned, we finally sought the guidance of a priest, Father Tony. A gentle, wise spiritual director, he helped us understand and gradually bring Amaka back to balance. We never fully understood the nature of her visions or why they had come and gone, but there was a quiet peace in accepting that some mysteries remain unsolved. To this day, I remember that season as a time when our lives were inexplicably and profoundly touched by forces beyond our understanding—a “folie à deux,” a shared madness that forever changed our family.
