To satisfy the increased demand for travel over the Yuletide season, Slovak carrier, AirExplore has agreed to dry-lease four Boeing 737-800 aircraft to Nigeria’s flag carrier, Air Peace.


A deal in the aviation industry when an aircraft is leased without crew, maintenance, or insurance is known as a “dry lease.” An economical choice for operators that can handle the aircraft on their own is dry leasing. According to information obtained, the nation’s flag carrier particularly requested the four planes to operate domestic operations by itself during the busy Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Citing the agreement, which The PUNCH was informed about by an airline insider, AirExplore, a division of Avia Solutions Group, will supply pilots for the aircraft under the dry-leasing arrangement, while Air Peace will supply cabin crew members who are presently undergoing training for the role.



The development was confirmed by a statement accessed by BrandSpur Nigeria news today, which was signed by Ejike Ndiulo, the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications. The statement described the arrangement as special, allowing Air Peace to continue providing excellent customer service while utilizing AirExplore’s operational experience.

Ndiulo had this to say: “Passengers can expect efficient and familiar service onboard, in line with Air Peace’s established reputation.”

Seven Boeing 737-300s, four Boeing 737-500s, a Boeing 777-200ER, two Boeing 777-300s, eight Embraer E145s, five Embraer E195-E2s, and an executive Dornier 328-300 are now in the airline’s fleet. The most recent partnership between Air Peace and ASG’s ACMI/charter specialist is not the first, according to information obtained. The airline’s source also suggested that Air Peace dry-leased two Airbus A320-200s from ASG member SmartLynx Airlines Malta between 2021 and 2023. The airline also just acquired two Boeing 737-700s that were wet-leased.

According to the source: “We may not say this officially, but we are getting four aircraft on a dry-lease agreement; this is certainly to meet the increased passengers that we would be experiencing during the festive period.

“You know we do not only pride ourselves as the largest in the country, we also always want to meet up with our increasing number of passengers,” the source added.
