Sen. Ned Nwoko Says 6 Bills Awaiting Senate Action Will Stimulate Nigeria's Political, Economic, Social wellbeing

Sen. Ned Nwoko's Six Bills Poised To Address Political, Economic Issues in Nigeria

The Senator representing Delta North senatorial district of Delta State at the 10th senate, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has unveiled six bills he sponsored at the Senate awaiting Senate's approval.

The lawmaker said the six bills when passed by the Senate and signed into law will advance growth and deepen the country's political, economic and Social wellbeing.

He added that they will address critical issues and seek to improve various aspects of Nigerian society.

They include, a bill for an act to alter the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Cap. C23 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 for the creation of Anioma State and for matters connected therewith, a bill for an act to establish the National Talent, Rehabilitation and Integration Agency, and for related matters and a bill for an act to alter the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, No. 7, to prohibit the discriminatory use of foreign currency payment for remuneration and for matters connected therewith.

The rest three are, a bill for an act to alter the Electoral Act, 2022 (as altered) to provide for the issuance of permanent voter card at the point of registration and for related matters, a bill for an act to alter the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, to provide for the mandatory first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) training at homes, schools, institutions and offices, and the adoption of the Good Samaritan Laws and matters connected therewith, 2024 and a bill for an act to alter the 1999 constitution (as altered) to provide for diaspora voting and for related matters.

Addressing the press in Abuja on Friday, Senator Nwoko noted that the bills cover a wide range of topics, including compulsory professional indemnity, banks' capitalization, health insurance, equity, cashless asset acquisition, self-defence and firearm ownership regulation, and establishing laws governing the election of Nigerians into the ECOWAS Parliament.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with the unconstitutional and arbitrary use of foreign currencies for transactions in Nigeria.

According to the lawmaker, such acts not only devalue the local currency Naira, but also undermine the nation's sovereignty as an independent nation.

He said: "It gives me great concern that our currency is only valuable within Nigeria. When the Europeans, Americans, French and other foreign multinationals transact businesses in Nigeria, they make payment with the US dollars, pounds, or Euros, but when Nigerians want to transact any kind of business, they are compelled to use the host countries currency, this has to stop. Our currency is our pride, it is a symbol of our sovereignty and territorial integrity which we must guard, extol and give adequate reverence we can't continue to disregard and disrespect our currency".

He added, "You can see that the president is already keying into this bill by approving the sale of crude oil using the Naira which the NNPCL has already started its implementation. If we stop the use of dollars and other foreign currencies in Nigeria, it will strengthen the naira and improve its value".

He alleged that suspected fraudsters attempted to defraud him by leveraging on his interest in malaria eradication in Africa.

However, the case has now been resolved in his favour as a UK court has cleared him of any wrongdoing and ordered that his money be released to him within 7 days.

Earlier at the press conference, the communication coordinator for the Senator, Hon. Mrs Gloria Okolugbo enumerated the achievements of the senator and praised his selfless sacrifices and passion towards delivering the dividends of good representation to his constituency and the country as a whole.

"I have been working with the senator since he was elected into the red chamber, I believe that he has done so well in terms of delivering good governance to his people. He is a grass root politician and has been in the forefront of advocating for anything that will better the lives of his people.

"He has attracted investment and infrastructure to his constituency to the tune of over 3.5 billion naira within just one year and seven months into the Senate. The bills he is proposing, if passed will help Nigeria in her quest for political and economic recovery which is one of the hallmarks of President Bola Tinubu's administration", she stated.

He is not a bench warmer at the Senate, he is focused and out to touch the lives of his people.

Meanwhile Nairaland has become a depressing and boring website, virtually every story on Front Page is dominated by the same hoard of miscreants spewing extreme tribal hatred 24hrs, fresh ideas seems to be non existent as newcomers to this platform don't even know how to navigate the toxicity from the popular Monikers before contributing their own opinions.

Even the owner of this site seems to have given up after his warning against tribal slurs and abuses didn’t make much difference because he has failed in weeding out the troublesome Monikers that have made this place uninteresting unlike in the past when we come here to get life changing information

This Ned dey try...

One of the active members in the senate. Not active in terms of negatives...

He has been dropping bills steady at the N/A.

When someone has done well he should be commended.

Kudos to Ned.

However, in the land of the blind... The one eyed guy is considered king.

That's not to take anything from Ned though!

His pr*** is not only active, he is also active. grin
It's not easy to be f**** six pretty women including one old enough to be his granddaughter.
On a serious note, this man is active in the senate.
Once the bill to create Anioma State scales through, he is likely going to be a governor and as such, more money is going to be available for more women.
Emmanuella or Success might have had a rethink and follow Gina's footsteps cheesy

It may be but that of our currency might not see the light of the day .. they may not pass that ...
You want them to lose the value of their money they've stacked away .. if dollar falls against our Naira them know it will affect their net worth

T.A Orji is the most useless shit-nator. Useless as a governor and as a shit-nator.

Kudos senator Ned. U are not only active in the room. But active to get things better outside.

If election is really free and fare in Nigeria most useless governors like TA Orji won't smell second term not to talk of going to the senate to continue being useless.

Great Senator, you are really doing well.

The Electoral Act should also be amended to make iREV and BVAS a compulsory part of election result collation. There should be a large central INEC result display screen at each INEC state head office and Abuja to boldly display the polling unit results as being automatically uploaded on iREV.

We must do away with manual collation of election result because that is where they capitalize to rig elections in Nigeria.

In the amendment, it must be boldly stated that in any electoral litigation, court must accept and admit BVAS and iREV results as authentic results and not just INEC's altered and doctored physical result sheet.

They should also consider pushing for a bill to make zoning of Presidency, Governorship and LGA Chairman positions part of Nigeria's constitution to reduce inequality and address issues of political marginalization of any group in Nigeria.

Then lastly make federal character a must for Presidential and Governoship appointments. The President or Governor must find a way to get people he can trust from not only his tribe or region or community, this will address further political inequality fueling insecurity, agitation and unpatriotism among Nigerians that feel cheated or left out in political affairs of Nigeria and their respective states and LGAs.

True. Some even refer to It as Tribaland. The Owner is a real let down. It used to be very interesting in its early days. Now most comment sections have been overrun by tribal and religious bigots.

Oga Ned, you are doing well. However, I don't think that diaspora voting bill is necessary. If INEC is budgeting 300 billion just to conduct elections in Nigeria, they will increase it to 1 trillion when they are told to include the diaspora in their budget.
