Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian politician and a lawyer who hails from Enugu State and served in the Senate of Nigeria for Enugu West from 3 June 2003 to 5 May 2023 .

He is a member of the People's Democratic Party, and was the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate for three (3) consecutive (6th, 7th and 8th) senate.

On 23 June 2022, Ekweremadu and his wife were charged in the UK with conspiring to arrange the travel of a 21 year old into the UK in order to harvest organs. He was found guilty on 23 March 2023 at the Old Bailey. On 5 May 2023, he was sentenced to nine years and eight months imprisonment.

What did you learn from this, how the mighty Ike fell ?

A kidney that can be bought in Abakaliki should not be bought in London.

20 years in the senate! I learned that it's not good to stay too long in a position. If you do, diminishing returns set in.

I can't understand the Abakaliki connection in this discussion.

I sincerely have no pity for him, he laid his bed so he should lie on it. He was part of those that spear headed the meeting of indiscriminate organ harvesting without consent with Bill gate, the evidence is in public domain , so I wish him well. As for his wife she is indirectly involved as bro/sis in crime, they should both enjoy their stay in isolation.

Worst of all, there's a story about how he withheld or embezzled money meant to transplant surgery program at UNTH. He became angry with the professors who came to ask about the funds when information leaked from the Senate.
So many years later, and as Karma would have it, his own daughter came to need transplant. The rest is now history.

The only thing to learn is that the UK criminal justice system is far more effective than the Nigerian one. They don't compare

If the same thing had happened in Nigeria, rather than the UK, Ike Ekeremadu would still be in the Senate
