THE AFTERMATH: ON DIGNITY IN GOVERNANCE AND THE FUTILITY OF MANUFACTURED NARRATIVES - SEGALINK

In the wake of the regrettable events that marked the 2025 Budget presentation, it is telling that rather than offer a dignified apology for his unparliamentary conduct, the Speaker has opted to flood the media with sponsored writings attempting to justify the unjustifiable. This desperate resort to paid propaganda further underscores the emotional instability that prompted the initial misconduct.

The engagement of mercenary writers to defend what was clearly indefensible speaks volumes about leadership's collision with reason. When emotions override institutional dignity, and hired pens become tools for personal vindication, we witness the truth in Aristotle's observation that "He who loses wealth loses much; he who loses a friend loses more, but he who loses character loses all."

These sponsored narratives, transparent in their desperately crafted arguments, serve only to reinforce the original transgression. They stand as testament to how power, when mishandled, can lead to what philosophers term humanity's self-corrupting contradiction – where ego supersedes duty, and personal validation trumps public service.

In stark contrast, Governor Sanwo-Olu's
@jidesanwoolu
unwavering focus on developmental governance presents a masterclass in public leadership. His dedication to:

- Continuing infrastructural development
- Advancing economic initiatives
- Implementing social welfare programs
- Driving environmental sustainability
- Pursuing institutional reforms

remains unshaken by these political theatrics. This steadfast commitment to governance over grandstanding exemplifies true leadership.

The Governor's (
@followlasg
) choice to remain above the fray, focusing instead on delivering the dividends of democracy to Lagosians, validates the age-old wisdom that empty vessels make the most noise. While some busy themselves with media manipulation and self-justification, real governance continues in earnest.

It bears noting that no amount of sponsored articles can whitewash institutional discourtesy or justify the disrespect shown to party elders and stakeholders. The public's ability to distinguish between genuine leadership and orchestrated defense narratives remains intact.

As we move forward, let it be recorded that when confronted with provocative discourtesy, the Executive chose dignity; when faced with theatrical politics, it chose substance; and when met with sponsored propaganda, it chose silence and continued service.

The contrast could not be clearer: while some leaders spend resources defending their indiscretions, others invest their energy in developing their state. This divergence in priorities tells its own story, requiring no further elaboration from paid writers or sponsored opinions.

In governance, as in life, actions speak louder than words – or in this case, louder than paid words. The people of Lagos State can discern between leaders who serve and those who seek to be served, between those who build and those who destroy, between those who lead and those who merely possess titles for rent seeking.

Segalink is not a doctor, neither is he a PhD holder.

He is also not a lawyer, as he occasionally claims to be.

Segalink is an anywhere-belle-face "activist" and a hack for hire.

And it seems Nairaland is his new playground as he unravelled and got outed on Twitter for the fraud that he is.

So he has fallen to Nairaland like the devil fell to the earth after being banished from heaven.

Can you imagine the long epistle from Segalink accusing another of sponsoring paid write-ups against sanwo. Same sanwo that ran to court to prevent EFCC from arresting him after his tenure.

The issue with allowing people like Tinubu to be President opens the door for obviously unqualified people to seek for elective position

We saw it in Kogi we just saw it in Edo

The quality would keep dropping
