On World AIDS Day, we remember those who have lost their lives to HIV-AIDS and recognize that there is still work to do.

I fear this virus like mad as a teenager in the late ‘90s and 2000s. No medication. You contract, you drop in a few years.
RIP Chioma. Fine girl wey no gree gimme kpekus that year. Few years later heard she passed on from the virus. Weda na so I for contract am, who knows.
Then that wicked housemaster in NDSS, Aba. Made me sit under the sun for hours. Picked on me for no reason. Took delight in embarrassing me in front of my peers. Saw him buying drugs in front of a chemist one evening in late ‘99 after he had contributed to orchestrating my expulsion from the said school. Heard he died of AIDS circa 2001. Could not have been older than his 30s. Mufuug probably deserved his fate tongue

This is the most ignorant statement i have seen this year. Next time provide more context like if they viral load is low. Dont just type rubbish. And what about other STD's like HPV, and the bacteria's. Keep playing!

He is absolutely correct. There are transmission rates for different types of sexual activity. You are the one who should seek knowledge and find out what the risk of transmission are for each specific sexual activity.

Only 2 million people are living with HIV in Nigeria. In comparison, South Africa has approximately 7.8 million people living with HIV, which accounts for about 13% of its population. This means approximately one out of every 8 South Africans is HIV positive. grin

All this stupid statistics.

If every 25 seconds, someone is being infected with HiV, that means the whole world would have been infected .

In the 90s and early 2000, the fear and stigma attached to HIV so much so was precaution to prevent it

Nowadays, very few people care about it. You hear people engaging in casual sexx who would say do don't like condoms or engage in high risk sexual activities

AI Overview

HIV is a preventable disease. Here are some ways to reduce the risk of getting HIV:
Use condoms: Use a male or female condom every time you have sex, especially with partners who are HIV positive or whose HIV status is unknown.

Limit sexual partners: Reduce the number of sexual partners you have.

Get tested: Get tested for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Take PrEP: If you're HIV-negative and at risk of becoming infected, you can take pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP is a daily pill or long-acting injection that you can get by prescription from a licensed health care provider.

Take PEP: If you may have been exposed to HIV, you can take post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) within 72 hours. PEP is safe to take during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Avoid sharing needles: Don't share needles.

Use harm reduction services: If you inject drugs, use harm reduction services like needle syringe programs and opioid substitution therapy.

Honestly, this day makes no sense to me. It would serve better if resources were pooled into finding a cure or vaccine for the virus. Another World AIDS Day, so what? Na to drink beer celebrate.
