I didn't get it.
What are you trying to say?

My question is, why are we looking for foreigners to do weeding, security guard jobs and even fry Akara? There are no jobs, so why are these jobs looked down on?

Ok, it look me 5 times to understand what you wrote.

I think you meant which of these jobs am I doing? That has nothing to do with my question. You have to be a lazy person to ask that in response to my post.

How can anyone turn down a job and then say there's no job?

How difficult is it for Yoruba jobless youths to farm? If you are looking for a security guard, you will get Hausa, if you ask for someone who can farm around the house, you will also get money, so that you can make money for young Yoruba who will have a job? Even common bread that is your traditional and traditional food, foreigners bake it for you, they will come and poison you! What kind of world can this be? Please I need someone to explain this to me, it's really baffling.?

I knew it, I just wanted to confirm the diagnosis of "ebi npa wa" You are jobless and poor by choice. I've been thinking about how come the other neighbouring countries where things are tougher and cost of living is higher are not complaining like Nigeria, now I found it, you are lazy as sloth and it's mostly a self-inflicted wound,

Now we are getting somewhere, laziness is the main reason. There's no future for you, anyone who doesn't want to start from "whatever job" is not going to make it. So be prepared for a tough road ahead of you, damn you lazy youth.

Thanks, the translation almost got it all except a few.

From what I'm hearing, the pay is 5k a day for weeding but no Yoruba would take it up for even 10k per day. Also security guard, what's going on? I thought there was nothing at all for people to do, not knowing that there are jobs people will never do even if they are hungry.

All you need to do is go to any bus stop and offer this job with a loud speaker and see what happens next.

People have been scam many times with this job offers that why is hard to see anyone take it online.

How can anyone turn down a job and then say there's no job?

The reason is that there are thousands of yoruba men and women that do hundreds of different kinds of menial labour.

Look around you and stop calling people lazy. Why should an individual be doing a job that is not rewarding and the effort and frequency is not enough to take carebof his bills.

Just say you are one of the lazy people.

If you can't work for 5k a day, then you have lost the right to complain about the economy, you are just lazing around looking to either scam or steal. There's dignity in labor, any job is better than begging. How can 150k be too small for a man who has no other opportunity, when others who sit in offices get paid the same amount? You future and the future of the gullible people who believe you is what you are play with. Govt don't create jobs and there are no enough private sectors. How do you even pray to God to give you a better job when you see one as beneath you?

Life is like a ladder and you have failed to take the first

I just found this out, so it's new to me that people are crying that they are hungry but can't do certain jobs.

The culture of each tribe has that it endearing to them in term of occupation. An Igbo man will find it easy to open a stall after reaching another region. A Yoruba man will prefer handiworks like bricklaying, Carpentry. Besides, I am from Osun state working in Lagos and i have lived in the North before. There are thousands and millions of Abokis and Igbo who are also jobless and lamenting when you get to their regions. And there are millions of my Yoruba siblings that are working tirelessly in the bush to earn living. Try to make enquiry about Yoruba people doing farming, peasant and commercial in the South East. At least three of my blood brothers and their wives are in Edo Forest farming. Ondo state forests as well. Even in Cote De Voire, many Yoruba are doing more than menial works to earn living and they come home to build and established after their sojourn. ''It is see finish'' that is disturbing you but try to research. In Lagos, Yoruba men find it absurd to fry akara because its a women job. Yoruba men see opening shop a woman job in their culture. They will rather open it and put their wives there.

All these flimsy excuses didn't address my question, you are just jumping over yourself in trying to cover up the problem facing Yoruba youths, and you my friend are the one in need of enlightenment because you just blew dry air through your post.

Your mindset will make Yorubaland poor no matter how much money comes in. To build wealth, money has to circulate at least 3 times in a community before it goes out. If you contract out your lowest income, you have cut that by half. And who told you that men have to fry Akara? Have women all finished in Yorubaland? Why can't Yoruba youth work security guards and weed for money was my question. I needed help for these two at different times and I was to by like 5 people who don't know each others that I should go and get Hausa or molah when there are Yoruba boys everywhere sitting down doing nothing.

There's no job whites don't do, from 10 yrs old they deliver papers, at 14 yrs they go to mow neighbors lawn or bag groceries or wait tables. These are children of upper low class to middle class who want their children to know what it takes to make money, but people who have nothing in Nigeria can't weed? I just can't get over this topic. There's a 29 yrs old Yoruba guy today who started with washing dishes in a restaurant and later did security guard for the same restaurant, l thinkhe once worked lawn care too, today he's a senior security engineer in a govt agency complete with an assistant making almost $200k plus great benefits. I even told him about this yesterday and he couldn't believe it that people can refuse a job when there's no alternative. A lot of money changes hand at the bottom level and it's just to hold on till you are able to get up. Laziness is the problem of most of you.

What an excuse!

Bricklaying & tailoring are considered skilled jobs and you know that I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about people who wake up everyday doing nothing and still refuse to do whatever job is available, that's laziness, the only reason you won't call it out is because you are either one or you don't tell the truth. If you value hardwork, you will encourage everyone to take whatever is available while searching for the next step.

Menial jobs is for every able bodied man who has no job.

No, I was told by different people that Yoruba don't do these jobs, I even offered 10k per day when the normal fee is 5k. I had a deep conversation with a community leader who told me that, these youths will just be "yan fanda fanda" than accept to do a security guard job when I offered $100 equivalent when the normal pay is about half of that.

I'm reacting because it never crossed my mind that a jobless person can reject a job.

Your concerns highlight the complexities of cultural identity, economic empowerment, and food security. Here's another perspective:

Factors Affecting Yoruba Youths' Participation in Farming

1. Urbanization and cultural shift: Many Yoruba youths have migrated to urban areas, adopting city lifestyles and abandoning traditional farming practices.
2. Lack of interest and skills: Farming requires specialized knowledge and skills, which may not be passed down to younger generations due to changing cultural values.
3. Economic constraints: Starting a farm requires significant investment in land, equipment, and labor, which can be a barrier for unemployed youths.
4. Competition from migrant farmers: The influx of migrant farmers from other regions, like Hausa farmers, can create competition for local youths.

Addressing the Issue

1. Cultural revitalization: Encourage Yoruba youths to reconnect with their cultural heritage and traditional farming practices.
2. Agricultural training and support: Provide training, resources, and mentorship programs to help Yoruba youths develop farming skills and start their own farms.
3. Economic empowerment: Offer financial assistance, loans, or grants to support young farmers in accessing land, equipment, and labor.
4. Community engagement: Foster community involvement in promoting local food systems, supporting young farmers, and celebrating traditional farming practices.

The Bread Example

The phenomenon of foreigners baking traditional Yoruba bread can be attributed to various factors, including:

1. Globalization and market demand: The increasing demand for traditional bread has created opportunities for entrepreneurs from other regions to fill the gap.
2. Lack of local capacity: Insufficient local baking infrastructure, skills, and investment may have contributed to the dominance of foreign bakers.
3. Cultural exchange and adaptation: The presence of foreign bakers can also be seen as a natural consequence of cultural exchange and adaptation.

To address concerns about food security and cultural preservation, initiatives like:

1. Local baking training programs: Establish training programs to teach Yoruba youths traditional baking skills.
2. Support for local bakeries: Provide resources and support for local bakeries to compete with foreign-owned businesses.
3. Promotion of traditional food systems: Encourage the consumption and celebration of traditional Yoruba foods, including bread.

By addressing these complex issues through a multifaceted approach, it's possible to empower Yoruba youths, promote cultural preservation, and ensure food security.
