No I haven't but Kano with all it's huge population still comes after ibadan has the largest city.....the last I checked Minna isn't the most populated state capital in Nigeria.....might be big in land mass but not all can be developed.....200km exceeds Abuja to Kaduna which isn't even 6 lanes yet despite being a major highway.....now explain to me how Minna can justify having 6 lanes of that distance.....it's either a typo or the govt is down right lying.....marumbi to rafitashi is just 18km.

I rest my case since you have never been to the city before. Go there and see for yourself.

It is perplexing that both our state and federal governments in Nigeria consistently overlook mass housing when touting their achievements in housing development. It is even more concerning, given that millions of people live without shelter, defecate in the open due to inadequate sanitation, and endure the crushing realities of multidimensional poverty. For a nation facing such profound socio-economic challenges, prioritising the construction of affordable, mass housing for the poorest members of society should be a moral and developmental imperative. Providing safe and decent homes will not only offer dignity and security to the marginalised but also have ripple effects on health, productivity, and social cohesion.

Beyond housing, there is an urgent need to address other critical areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Our health and education systems are in dire need of comprehensive reforms and upgrades. Providing free education at all levels, alongside universal health insurance, is not merely an act of social responsibility; it is an investment in the future of the country. These measures would significantly reduce the financial burdens and emotional stress faced by millions of citizens, paving the way for a healthier, more educated, and more productive population.

Additionally, infrastructure development must be approached holistically, ensuring that every community, urban and rural, has access to clean water, reliable electricity, good roads, and efficient waste management systems. Such initiatives will improve living standards, stimulate local economies, and foster a sense of equity and inclusion among citizens.

Ultimately, a government that prioritizes the well-being of its people by addressing housing, education, healthcare, and infrastructure challenges lays the foundation for a more prosperous, stable, and equitable society. These efforts require vision, commitment, and the political will to place the needs of the many above the interests of the few.

Mass housing should never be the duty of the state, it's a failed policy anywhere and everywhere it has been done, it only results in ghettos and stiffles productivity.

How many houses would the government need to build to satisfy the need, is there really even a need or is the government going to manufacture one.

What would be the method of selecting those who would receive these houses ?

Government should at local , state and federal level focus on healthcare, education etc , they should focus on national infrastructural networks sewage , water etc should be revitalised.

I don't know how the sewage and water would be done, most governments would avoid it because such a project would affect structures which would cause upset, new areas should however be planned with these in mind.

What's the population of Minna and how much of that space you quoted is developed to warrant 200km of 6 lanes, that's like Abuja to Kaduna.

Road networks are not just for the individuals resident in that state but also for individuals transiting through, also for a state where the governor is targeting mechanised agriculture and transporting the produce raw and processed out towards the areas of Nigeria and beyond, you'll need road and rail networks to do that. It would be difficult for Niger state to expand standard gauge/narrow rail without federal gov however they can build their road network without delay.

I have not disputed what you have said but I did be glad if it were possible to let us have the details and scope of this road.....what I am saying is that 200km is no joke and you are talking 6 lanes.....that's longer than Abuja to Kaduna.....how many 6 lane roads do you have in Lagos the most populated city in Nigeria and what's the total Kms..........what's the population of Minna and how many motorists are in that place, yes roads are an essential component for development but that info posted by the Niger state govt cannot be true.....even suleja to Minna is being quoted at about 100km same as Minna to bida and they are just being dualised.

I suspect that it's s three lanes each direction which should be the standard for motorways.
