This car reigned in Nigeria between 1976 and 1996 as a family car mostly for the middle class and was very common amongst University lecturers and professors. It sold between N7,000 to N10,000 back then when there was nothing like Tokunbo cars...everybody bought brand new!

Today it is mostly used as a beat-up car for carrying farm produce cry

This was when Volvo made safe, boxy, rugged
and strong cars.
You didn't include the fact that this rugged Volvo model used to be very Loud and Noisy especially the 244 GLE.
As a young lad, we used to know when our neighbor is coming back from work even when he was still 3 streets away.
You'll hardly see people driving this model for personal use, those still on the roads are used by boarder smugglers, converted pickups for carrying building materials to sites and for Ambulances(Dead bodies love them) shocked

Volvo cars from yr 2000 till date are more silent with durable engines, still hard body but riddled with sensors here and there that our modern day mechanics a.k.a "Kazeems" would find too complicated.

The car was rubbing shoulders with PEUGEOT cars before the Toyota invasion of it's brand of cars in Nigeria.
All Volvo cars had second hard value, and easy to maintain.
I used Volvo S80 sometime ago.
I Love Volvo cars.
They hardly have engine knock or gear box problem.
My fear for Volvo cars is the brain box.
That was why I sold my own.

The wagon version is still in use by mortuary drivers to convey corpses. Volvo and Saab used to be expensive Swedish autos

The speed was awesome.

I traveled to the east with my uncle in that type of car. We left Lagos at 8 a.m, we reached River Niger at 10:30 a.m

Too much speed. No other motors or transport company dared overtook us.

Anyone can tag any price on his vehicle . It’s left for the buyer to decide who he gives his money
