West African countries affected by these jihadists could as well form coalition to tackle them head on, at once. But most importantly, clean up their countries of the brainwasher clerics, improve their borders and border controls (no influx of some North African Arabs/jihadists/stoker of jihad groups), re and very well re-educate their poor populations who are often handy tools in the hands of foreign interests seeking proxies to destabilize the region.

The West African countries should come together and with well strategies to deal with the terrorists. It's an eyesore/annoyance especially as they are not even actually embarking on any Islamic jihad to start with, just criminals.. ugh!

Who is creating wealth in Nigeria today , Nigerian elites

We need to hold our leaders accountable; we cannot do anything about external forces from the West. There is not one well-run African nation across West Africa despite the abundant mineral and human resources.

We can do by protecting our borders. Ask Algeria how they dealt with terrorism.

How can it be well run when it's the creation of West? That's the point.

I am starting to believe that Western arms dealers and certain other businesses that profit from insecurity may be contributing to the rise of terrorism in West Africa. Our failure to engage in critical thinking is why we allow ourselves to be manipulated into destabilizing our own region.

So many a times the international bodies and even UAE have released the names of those sponsoring terrorism in Nigeria to the government. Now tell me why the government has refused to release names or go after them? Wat is the government hiding? Whom are they shielding?

No b everything be West. Many top politicians in power are amongst those sponsoring Bokoharam and Bandits. Leave the West alone and search within. Common sense.

Benin has in recent years witnessed increasing jihadist attacks in the northern region.

Benin forces have suffered heavy losses in an attack near the border with insurgency-hit Niger and Burkina Faso, authorities have said.

Colonel Faizou Gomina, the national guard's chief of staff, said one of Benin's most well-equipped military positions had been hit in the north on Wednesday evening.

"We've been dealt a very hard blow," Col Gomina added.

It is not clear yet who is behind the attack but the country has in recent years witnessed increasing attacks in the northern region blamed on jihadist groups based in neighbouring countries.

More than 120 Beninese military officers were killed between 2021 and December 2024, a diplomatic source told the AFP news agency.

Last month, gunmen killed three soldiers and wounded four others who were guarding an oil pipeline in the north-east.

Col Gomina did not provide a death toll for Wednesday's attack, but the main opposition party, The Democrats, said about 30 soldiers had been killed in the Alibori region, Reuters news agency reports.

A security source put the death toll at 28, according to AFP.

"We are continuing cleaning-up operations. Forty assailants have been neutralised so far," the military source added.

Col Gomina said the position attacked had been "one of the strongest and most militarised" and called on military commanders to improve their operational strategies in order to counter security threats.

"Wake up, officers and section chiefs, we have battles to win," he said.

In 2022, Benin deployed nearly 3,000 troops to curb cross-border incursions and reinforce security in the north.

I posted some information about this security issue in the Sahelian region of West Africa on my thread in early December 2024.

This Benin Republic attack is the destructive effect of the Al-Qaeda affiliates such as the notorious Mali-headquartered jihadist terror group JNIM on the Northern frontiers of Benin Republic. JNIM has also infiltrated Burkina Faso and Niger Republic. These 3 countries under the military boys MUST seek the help of multiple countries outside of the Russians because they are endangering the security of other West African countries by not targeting the terrorists efficiently.

Over half of the total landmass of Mali and Burkina Faso are already in the hands of these jihadist terrorist groups ever since the French forces left and the Russians came in to help these overzealous military guys of Mali, Niger Republic and Burkina Faso. The bad state of insecurity in those 3 West African countries in the Sahelian region is further fueling instability, kidnappings for ransom, and highway robberies in the Northern regions of a lot of West African countries from Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Benin Republic, Ghana (Northern Ghana is used as a logistics base for these terror groups who have vowed to start attacks on Ghana soon), and more.

I love how the Beninise chief of staff reported and said things the way they're - he called on the men to brace up and told us they killed 40 assailants.. If it was in Nigeria, this story would never come from the army.
