Okay, there you have it. I know you'll still argue but I know exactly what I'm talking about. You need hands on practice to get things like this done.
1. Digital Logic Design Labs In this class, students learn how to create and test digital circuits. They use special tools like breadboards, wires, and tiny computer chips called ICs. It's like building with blocks, but instead of blocks, you're using electronic parts!
2. Microprocessor/Microcontroller Labs In this class, students learn how to program and connect tiny brains to other devices. They need special equipment to do this. You can't achieve this online.
3. Embedded Systems Design In this class, students learn how to design and build systems using special parts like sensors and motors. Traffic lights, censors, bank doors etc.
4. Robotics and Mechatronics In this class, students learn how to build and program robots using mechanical and electrical parts. It's like building a Lego robot, but way more advanced.
5. Computer Architecture and Organization Labs Have you ever wondered how computers are made? In this class, students learn how to design and build their own computer systems using special parts like CPUs, memory, and peripherals. It's like building a computer from scratch. How can you learn this online?
6. VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) Design Imagine designing a tiny city with millions of tiny buildings and roads. That's kind of like what VLSI design is! In this class, students learn how to design and test these tiny "cities" using special software and hardware tools.
7. Telecommunications and Networking Labs In this class, students learn how to set up and manage computer networks using special equipment like routers, switches, and cables.
8. Computer Hardware Maintenance and Repair Imagine your computer breaks down, and you need to fix it. That's what students learn in this class! They learn how to diagnose and repair computer hardware problems using special tools and techniques.
You can't achieve all these online. It's like learning how to drive truck online, of course there s videos but you can't learn it without practical experience.
I've answered your question but I know you'll still argue. Advanced computer engineering can't be taught online but you can be introduced to the basics online. YouTube, coursera, Alison, MIT open course ware, Udemy etc won't teach you the aforementioned. If they do, it'll be a scratch on the surface.
Note: we sharing ideas not arguing, majority of those concepts have been taught and are still being taught at online at an advanced level.. |

NiceLegs: From what I'm reading here, it's seems this NOUN school is good.
But I have some worries.
1) Is their certificate accepted globally for both work and studies outside Nigeria in countries like USA, Canada, Australia, UK etc?
2) I understand my learning style. I struggle with anything E-Books. And so, am guessing their study materials will all be in form of E-Books.
I am a traditional learner. I prefer hard copy books. I like to hold my books in my hand to read them. I love to put my books on the table and study them. I love turning pages of my books when reading.
With all these said, I fear I might not fit in studying at NOUN where all books or will I say STUDY MATERIALS are all online.
3) The NAME: I wish federal government can remove the name "OPEN" from National Open University. This is because when I hear the name "OPEN", I feel people studying there are unserious (no offense).
I feel it's because they don't go through the rigours that regular students go through.
You can't compare a regular student in a Conventional University to a student at an Open University.
So I feel when I graduate and my certificates bear OPEN UNIVERSITY, it will seem as if I didn't go to school when I present it outside the country.
For example in UAE, some government ministries don't employ graduates from OPEN Universities.
These are just my reservations. I stand to be corrected. 1. NOUN's certificate is accepted worldwide. 2. You have the option of getting hard copies at the Study Centre or printing if they don't have. 3. NOUN students are not unserious as most of them Study on their own and write their exams 1 Like 1 Share |

But the way you said it made it look like I didn't know what I was talking about. I know a lot about embedded systems and even though I can organise an online class for that, the real deal must be hands on. Like practical to actually test what works and what doesn't. Issue with online class for the course I listed before is that, any online class will just be a scratch on the surface. Peace ✌️ |

Peace ✌️ Embedded systems maybe, but majority of those course(s) you mentioned are taught including practicals at advance levels online |

I thought you graduated from there recently. Why are you now talking against it? Is the school not good? Lamanii22:

Must one have an android phone when schooling in NOUN? humility33:
You're right. Had my first degree in uniben with a 4.08 CGPA currently doing my masters in NOUN to be honest the school is well structured and the exams are well tailored.
I am really impressed, it really needs self motivation to ease through to be honest. |
