Michelle Obama insisted on a pricey holiday to Hawaii when her husband would have rather gone to a presidential retreat, according to reports. She allegedly wanted the taxpayer-funded $4million trip when Barack Obama sought instead to make the short trip to Camp David in Maryland. Political sources told the National Enquirer that the 47-year-old’s spending is rocketing and she even went on a shopping spree before the Hawaii trip.

‘The President’s advisers have told him that Michelle’s spending has spiralled “completely out of control”,’ one source told the National Enquirer. ‘Barack read his wife the riot act, but his words fell on deaf ears. Michelle said there was “no way” she was going to disappoint her daughters.’ The First Family has already attracted criticism as their annual vacation in Hawaii this year is likely to be their most expensive ever. The President will travel separately from his family this time because he wanted resolve the payroll tax cut issue before leaving Washington D.C.

He will fly Friday afternoon on his own Air Force One flight with Bo, after he was seen buying Christmas presents on Wednesday at PetSmart and Best Buy in Alexandria, Virginia. Mrs Obama took Malia and Sasha to MA'O Organic Farms in Hawaii for pizza earlier this week where they were joined by healthy eating advisors. Mr Obama himself was seen buying pizzas from the Del Ray Pizzeria back in Alexandria as he spends time at home without his family. Mrs Obama took the children last weekend in a flight that cost an extra $100,000 - and her husband’s round-trip journey will be $3,271,611.

The bill for the trip went up last week when Mrs Obama decided to take Sasha and Malia herself while her husband tries to save the U.S. economy. His flight was estimated by the Hawaii Reporter as the largest expense of the holiday trip, which will cost more than $4million in total. But his family is covering the cost of a private beach front residence in Kailua, Oahu, which costs up to $3,500 a day, or $75,000 a month

Ndipe:

If it was the other way round, i mean if it was GEJ and his wife that did the same thing, you will be quick to draw comparisons

The complainer, (Expensive 007)'s profile lists Nigeria as his base, so how could he be affected by Michelle Obama's spending habits back in Nigeria? Kinda like someone commented that Genevieve Nnaji is more fashionable than Michelle Obama, and I am now thinking, does Michelle even know who Genevieve is, or is she weeping buckets of tears for being overshadowed in the fashion industry by someone whose existence doesnt add any relevance to her existence? There are more important stuff happening in the society to be sidelined by these childish topics.

Prince William, Kate Middleton skip planned ski-trip out of respect for hardships faced by common Brits

Prince William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are opting for a low-key holiday.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are passing up a planned ski trip — because of the downward slippery slope that many of their subjects find themselves in during these harsh economic times.

"The palace thinks it would send a bad message to be away during this time," a source told Us Weekly.

The Royal couple will join William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, for a (relatively) quiet holiday weekend at Sandringham, the monarch's not-so-cozy country home in Norfolk.

After exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve, the family will attend a church service on the grounds in the morning and then settle down to watch the queen's prerecorded television speech to the country Christmas afternoon.

Of course, just how relaxing a family retreat can be is relative for Kate Middleton, who's celebrating her first Christmas with her new in-laws.

"Kate will need a casual outfit for breakfast, a smart outfit — and a hat — for the morning church service, a dress for lunch, a cocktail dress for early evening drinks and a full-length dress for the evening meal," royal etiquette expert Jean Broke-Smith told Grazia magazine earlier this week.
