Bidens son was charged for tax evasion which he admitted to and finally settled, he was due for a plea bargain when the Republicans and Trump started dragging him and made the whole thing political. Even going so low as to show his nudes in front of congress. Dude has successfully fought his addiction and was already sober when his trial begun. If Biden didn’t pardon him they would’ve continued to witch-hunt the guy just to get at his father.

This is exactly what he is doing. People will start talking very soon, and he will say that if they want him reverse his pardons, Biden's son must be prosecuted too. So, he will ask them to review the law and invalidate Hunter's pardon. This is exactly what I feel he is doing.
